00:00You can be cute, sexy, and sustainable.
00:02And look expensive.
00:03So Bebe, this is the Marguerite bra.
00:14Wait, what's in it again?
00:15So the lace up here, there's recycled nylon actually in the lace.
00:19And recycled nylon, it can come from anything, like plastic bottles, actually plastic straws too.
00:24So the thing about recycled nylon in lace, lace is really complicated, you know?
00:29It's like delicate, it's structured.
00:31I'm shook because this felt, I would never know this was sustainable, it feels amazing.
00:36And my question is like, then why don't most companies make sustainable products like this?
00:42So using recycled fabrics in products like bras, it's starting to become more of a thing.
00:49So getting the mix right with virgin fibers to actually feel good, it's still complicated,
00:54but it's getting better.
00:55And the whole point with all this kind of stuff is, it's got to just get better.
00:59So it starts with, you know, it's in the lace, eventually it'll be in the wires and the straps
01:04and all parts of the bra.
01:05Wow.
01:06So not only will I be feeling sexy, I'll be feeling good wearing this.
01:14So think about, you're in a factory, there's yards and yards of fabric going through, cutting
01:21into t-shirts and skirts and pants.
01:23And imagine all the fabric that's falling to the side.
01:27Right now.
01:28I've never thought of that before.
01:29All of that just goes into trash bags and it ends up in a landfill.
01:32So now there's a company called Cyclo that we're working with that actually takes the
01:37fabric waste, they sort it out into different colors.
01:40So this would have been originally some other green fabric waste.
01:43And then they put it in these giant machines.
01:46There's hot air, they spin it with virgin fibers.
01:49And again, using that, they're able to create new fibers to create sweatshirts like this.
01:54Could they do that with me?
01:55Just kidding.
01:56Just kidding.
01:57Could they make me a virgin again?
01:58No, I'm just kidding.
01:59So how many times can you recycle?
02:01Yeah.
02:02So this is one of the things about this specific shirt.
02:05This uses fabric waste from within the manufacturing process.
02:08So what would you do with this?
02:09You know, a few years from now, if you want to return it, if it's no longer of use, the
02:14company can actually break it down again and then goes through the process and you can
02:17make more clothing.
02:19And it's called a closed loop.
02:21And that's kind of the dream of what we're trying to do.
02:23That's cool.
02:39Okay, Bebe, do you own yoga pants?
02:42Oh my gosh.
02:43Activewear.
02:44That's all I live in is yoga pants.
02:46All right.
02:47Performance fabrics.
02:48So they have all these magical properties.
02:50It's got like sweat wicking.
02:51They suck you in.
02:52You look skinny.
02:53Yeah.
02:54That's fabric compression that gives you the hold that kind of holds you perfectly.
02:57Yep.
02:58My favorite.
02:59Do you know how all of these things are actually created?
03:02Chemicals.
03:03Chemicals.
03:04Why am I not surprised?
03:05I know.
03:06They go through a chemical bath and it's literally like moisture wicking is from synthetic
03:18polymers.
03:19So when you're sweating, you're just probably sweating that back out.
03:23It's worse because when you are sweating, your body temperature and your humidity, your
03:27pores open and you absorb everything even more.
03:37There's something called activated silk.
03:42There's a company evolved by nature.
03:43They've created just using silk cocoons.
03:46They break it down in water using salt and somehow again using science.
03:52They smell good.
03:53They feel like real yoga pants.
03:54No chemicals using this.
03:56Basically imagine normal activewear.
03:59It goes through a chemical bath, synthetic chemicals.
04:02This goes through a bath of liquefied silk.
04:06And to get the same property, even they dry 32% better than chemical based activewear.
04:13So yes.
04:14So these are the kind of solutions like, and there are all these problems like this where
04:17chemical on your clothing.
04:18Yeah.
04:19I mean, I had no idea that I was wearing chemical leggings.
04:22That sucks.
04:24How could the average shopper like me, you know, just become more sustainable, a sustainable
04:30shopper?
04:31You start just recycled nylon and lace.
04:33It's a small step.
04:34Or you get into mechanical recycling, trying to close the loop.
04:38That's a bigger step.
04:39Or you go all out and you get the activated silk.
04:42So basically you can be cute, sexy and sustainable and look expensive.
