Delle the dolphin can mimic a human's actions perfectly.
But that's not the only extraordinary thing about it ...

00:00You're looking at Del, she's an animatronic robotic dolphin.
00:20We believe that there is a more sustainable, more humane way for that business to be more
00:48profitable than it has ever been.
01:04Del really is a one-to-one perfect match with a real life counterpart.
01:13She's modeled after an eight and a half foot long, 500 plus pounds when she's wet, Atlantic
01:20bottlenose dolphin.
01:28Instead of having marine parks simply shut down, Edge Innovations is offering a solution
01:33for them to reimagine themselves and stay relevant in a time where animal welfare is
01:37so important to so many people and stay credible and educational while also respecting the
01:43animals that we are so fascinated by.
01:58Dolphins used for entertainment such as shows or swimming counters typically live in small
02:03concrete barren tanks where they're unable to swim over long distances, dive deeply or
02:09escape from conflicts with other frustrated animals.
02:12One of the pavilions for one of our Chinese partners which has a whole cast of dolphins
02:20that are in it from little tiny baby ones that interact with young children to large
02:25ones that take people on snorkel tours and a couple of background dolphins that do different
02:31things.
02:32The cost of that entire portfolio of dolphins is about $20 million.
02:38That will, over the course of 10 years, when you factor in the feeding, veterinary services
02:44and filtration of the aquarium and everything else, save that aquarium tens of millions
02:49of dollars.
02:51Our goal is to develop new kinds of interactive entertainment and educational experiences
02:59that deal with the world oceans.
03:01So the dolphin is only one of a very large cast.
03:17We think that just like the electric car industry where most of the major automobile manufacturers
03:24have a 5 year to a 10 year plan to transition from being gas automobiles to electric automobiles,
03:32we think we can reimagine the marine park industry in a similar way and help them become
03:37more sustainable and profitable in the process.
03:40That's really the goal of our initiative.
