Can scientists save Madagascar's famous lemurs before they go extinct?

00:00If the speed of the current deforestation remains the same, there is no forest left in this country.
00:05So that means there is no lemurs left in Madagascar.
00:08All lemurs live in the forest, less than 10% of the original forest is left in Madagascar.
00:38People in the countryside that don't have access to special protein for their children,
00:57there is a higher rate of childhood mortality.
00:59And bushmeat in the deep countryside of Madagascar is very important
01:03for the livelihoods of people living in and around the forest.
01:12The animals are important and so are the people of Madagascar.
01:17So what we've been trying to do is work on a program where we work on protecting the animals
01:23and also raising the standard of living of the people,
01:28helping the people out too, doing that together.
01:32And it's quite a challenge.
