00:00This is long past the, you know, my kid can't play with your kid because he's not vaccinated space.
00:05It's the, your kid could potentially put my son's life at risk.
00:30It's super scary. We've been kind of on lockdown at home.
00:34If he does go anywhere, we kind of have to think it and plan it. Like he went to the
00:38dentist this morning, but I made him wear a mask and he has to be in a private room in the dentist.
00:42If we go out to eat, we go to a place maybe off hours or we do a drive-thru. And he could go to
00:47preschool because there's only two kids in his whole preschool that aren't immunized,
00:52but we're in the middle of a measles outbreak.
01:00I've had parents tell me you're being too dramatic or you're overprotective,
01:10but I don't think twice about locking my kid up in a car seat when I get in the car. The risk of
01:16Kai dying in a car accident is significantly less than him dying if he gets measles. So why wouldn't
01:21I be extra careful in that situation? My husband and I, our main goal is to keep our kid alive
01:26through his treatment.
01:47I work in the oncology space. I'm a nurse by trade and I think about a lot of my patients
01:52that are immunocompromised and not just kids. These are people that are going through treatment
01:58for breast cancer or going through treatment for colon cancer. You really should seek out
02:09expert advice and the most up-to-date and current data. If you only go to a place
02:16that aligns with your own views, you're really not getting the whole story. So I would suggest
02:22that you seek out discussion that's different than yours, that opinions are different and make
02:28a fully informed decision.
