These 12 teens of DIY Girls created a solar-powered tent for the homeless.

00:00Even on the daily, walking to school, we see people living on the streets.
00:12We did a solar-powered tent for homelessness.
00:15The solar panel includes LED lights, UVC lights for sanitation, and a USB port for charging phones.
00:45The DIY Girls is a group of girls here at San Fernando High School who were challenged
01:09with creating or engineering solutions to different social problems.
01:15They were challenged to create a solar-powered tent.
01:34So, as you can see now, our lights are much brighter, which is how we want it to be in our tent.
01:45Coming from a low-income community, low-income school, we didn't have all the resources that a lot of the teams did have.
01:58And one thing that was really cool is we were the only all-female Latina team.
