00:00The parent asked the Marines to look after the baby because the baby was ill.
00:16And so the Marine you see reaching it over the wall took it to a Norwegian hospital that's
00:23at the airport.
00:24They treated the child and returned the child to the child's father.
00:45Was there only one?
00:46I'm only aware of the one incident.
00:48But it was an act of compassion because there was concern about the baby.
00:52Are they going to be brought out, the father, or were they put back outside the airport?
00:56I don't know, Jen.
00:57The baby was returned to its father.
01:00I don't know where they are now.
01:04We don't, I mean, obviously we have a responsibility to return a child to the child's parent.
01:09And I don't know who the parent is and whether they're an SIV applicant or I just, I don't
01:15have that level of detail.
01:16But I think this was a very humane act of compassion by the Marines.
01:19Is there going to be any, I guess, regulation stating that this should not be happening
01:26to kind of regulate that parents aren't taking their children and trying to pass them off
01:29to get them inside the gate?
01:32I know of no such effort to do that, Therese.
01:35Again, these are US servicemen and women deployed in a still dangerous and difficult mission.
01:46And I think what you saw there is the same thing that you saw when that Air Force jet
01:51packed to capacity with people wanting to get out.
01:55They're doing the best they can to be as compassionate as they can.
01:58And again, the baby was not harmed.
02:01It was treated for whatever the illness was and returned to the father.
02:09And I think you're seeing, again, these men and women, incredibly brave, doing the best
02:14they can to be as compassionate as they can.
02:17And I think you're going to continue to see that kind of compassion going forward.
02:44I cannot promise what the final outcome will be or what it will be, that it will be without
02:49risk of loss.
02:51But as Commander-in-Chief, I can assure you that I will mobilize every resource necessary.
02:57This is one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history.
03:01And the only country in the world capable of projecting this much power on the far side
03:06of the world with this degree of precision is the United States of America.
