00:00I remember to this day how stuttering felt, how dehumanizing, how embarrassing, how much
00:17it put into question, in my own mind as well, my capabilities.
00:47When I was in Washington hiring staff, I got a phone call.
01:04My wife and three children were Christmas shopping, tractor trailer broadsided and killed
01:10my wife and killed my daughter, and they weren't sure that my sons would live.
01:34I've made over, they actually calculated this, 8,200 round trips, over 2,100,000 miles
01:41on that trip.
01:42This is not a referendum on whether or not sexual harassment is a grave offense.
02:03I said from the beginning, this is about whether or not sexual harassment occurred.
02:17I haven't always been right.
02:18It was a big mistake when it was made.
02:20We thought we were told by the experts that crack, you never go back.
02:24It was somehow fundamentally different.
02:25It's not different, but it's trapped an entire generation.
02:47We can make an education system work, and it's not working now.
02:51We can, in fact, do something about the dread of nuclear war.
02:54We can deal with our trade problem and promote American jobs that pay real money, not poverty
03:01wages.
03:10Fact of the matter is, it's much more difficult to go out and convince a group of Republicans,
03:15I would argue, getting something done that is of a major consequence.
03:19I have experience of doing that.
03:21I did it on the crime bill.
03:22I did it on today.
03:24I'm not suggesting it's Hillary's fault.
03:26I think it's a reality that it's more difficult.
03:35This is an extraordinary election.
03:37The American people are ready.
03:39I am ready.
03:40Barack is ready.
03:42This is his time.
03:43This is our time.
03:44This is America's time.
03:52My name is Joe Biden, and I love ice cream.
03:56You all think I'm kidding.
03:57I'm not.
03:58The Taoiseach knows a lot about it.
03:59His mom lived in Long Island for 10 years or so.
04:04God rest her soul.
04:05And although she's, wait, your mom's still, your mom's still alive as your dad passed.
04:12God bless her soul.
04:17I gotta get this straight.
04:26The political world tonight is mourning the death of Beau Biden, the son of Vice President
04:30Joe Biden, who succumbed to brain cancer Saturday at the age of 46.
04:35Beau was my soul.
04:36Beau was my conscience.
04:38Beau was my, Beau was like, he was the little boy who, when he was six years old, he was
04:4530 years old.
04:46For the loved ones we've all lost, for the families that we can still save, let's make
05:04America the country that cures cancer once and for all.
05:14For the final time as president, I am pleased to award our nation's highest civilian honor,
05:21the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
05:27I can remember my mother, sweet lady, looking at me after we left the hospital and saying,
05:38Joey, out of everything terrible that happens to you, something good will come if you look
05:46hard enough for it.
05:50She was right.
