00:00So I'm going to try on this t-shirt.
00:03I get a 54 and a 100. Not so good.
00:07It's a bad environmental score.
00:10There is only a 12 and a 100.
00:22We realized that there was very little information about the clothing.
00:26We wanted to bring this information to the consumers
00:30and the best solution was a mobile app
00:33because it enables consumers to have the information everywhere where they are
00:37at home or in the shops.
00:40So I'm going to look for a brand
00:42and I can see the score on each of the themes
00:44environments, humans, health and animals.
00:47There are more than 100 billion pieces of clothing produced every year in the world.
00:51The production of the raw material,
00:53the treatments such as dyeing, the transportation
00:56and every step contributes to making it one of the most polluting sectors.
01:31Today there is a rise of awareness in the textile market.
01:36There are some new brands that have got strong commitments
01:40on social and environmental issues.
01:42There are other brands that are trying to change things
01:45and there are other brands that aren't doing anything yet
01:48and that should really change their practices.
01:50I'm going to check the score of this sweater.
01:52I take a picture of the tag with the component
01:55so I can see that it's a bad environmental score.
01:58There is only a 12 and a 100.
02:00This sweater is made from cotton
02:02that is using loads of chemicals and water
02:05and also from synthetic materials that is made from fossil fuels.
02:10So I should probably buy another sweater.
02:12We have built an evaluation system
02:14based on existing documentation
02:16and with the help of a committee of experts.
02:19And this is what generates what you can see on the app,
02:22the score and the information.
02:24We investigate with CRS reports,
02:27reading suppliers' code of conducts
02:30and other public documents.
02:32We gather the information,
02:34we complete the grid to evaluate the brand
02:36and we inform the brand.
02:38If information is no longer up to date
02:41or that the brand has changed its practices,
02:43it can at any time make us a return
02:45with proof of information.
02:54I got the score.
02:55It's a 76 and a 100.
02:57So it's a good score.
02:59And I can see that the human score is a 100 and a 100
03:02because the brand has checked the working conditions
03:06and that it's in the country where there are lower risks.
03:09There is a 100 and a 100 on the animal impact
03:12because there are no animal material
03:15and that there is no animal abuses risks.
03:18There are many ways to reduce the environmental footprint.
03:21There are some brands that are developing renting systems,
03:23others that are developing new processes
03:26or others that are relocating nearer from the distribution.
03:30There are too many pieces of clothing in the world.
03:33So the best is to keep the clothing you have
03:35as long as you can,
03:37to repair it, to buy second hand
03:39and then, if you really have a need,
03:41you can use clear fashion to inform
03:43and to make better choices.
