00:00Okay, so if you have been asking yourself, why is everybody talking about the election in Georgia?
00:04Did we not just have an election? We did, but in addition to the president being on the ballot in Georgia
00:10They had two US Senate races and in Georgia if none of the candidates win at least 50% of the votes
00:16Then it goes to a runoff election
00:17Which is basically like a sudden death where the top two candidates in each race have to face off
00:30Georgia has never been in the spotlight when it comes down to just the election in general
00:41It's never been a battleground state
00:44We have a runoff election that will deter the nature of power in
00:51America which impacts the world
01:00I want to hear all about Georgia. I want to hear all about what's going on in the ground for you all
01:12We have been working to make sure that Latinos and other minorities that have been marginalized and suppressed
01:18For so long to come out and vote
01:20What we're learning is a lot of people don't even know that there is an election coming up
01:24Or they don't understand the significance or the importance of this upcoming election
01:29Do you have a vote plan? Okay, if you don't, we can help you get one
01:32If you do, are you taking a friend? Okay, do you guys need a way to get there? We can handle that
01:59It's a place that was ground zero for voter suppression, right?
02:03Where we saw black people in this state be disenfranchised with a number of ways
02:29People think of it as just long lines at polling locations
02:48But you can show up to go vote at your early voting location as my friends did in Athens yesterday
02:54And learn your polling location has been changed and not have been notified
02:59And redistricting is going to happen
03:02Where elected officials are going to have the opportunity to pick their constituents
03:06Versus their constituents picking our elected officials
03:09So all of those things tie into voter suppression
03:24Voting should be the easiest thing in the world
03:39The fact that we have long lines is a failure of the system
03:42We have had horrible leadership
03:50We have had leadership that's really looked at and prioritized enriching themselves
04:07I think one of the biggest concerns that Georgians have had is voter suppression
04:12And just the trust in our electoral process
04:20People are just persisting throughout all the barriers of trying to get to the vote here in Georgia
04:37There is power in unity
04:40So if you see old folks that have been through something
04:46If there is anybody that looked like me that got beat or died for me to do a thing
04:53Then that sacred right for other folks is a moral obligation for me
04:59You're not voting for you, you're voting for everybody behind you
05:03And don't let that go
05:05There is a new south that is rising
05:07Yes
05:09A new America
