00:00It's such an important part to just stay true to who you are inside and whoever that may be.
00:14I feel just really honored and I also feel proud to represent a young voice in this festival and
00:23get to be a young audience member and view the movies from those eyes.
00:30I'm scared of what's going to happen to Sam and what's going to happen to me.
01:00So
01:10so something I'd never seen so interesting about a girl's school in the South during the Civil War
01:35and they take in an enemy soldier and I thought it would be so interesting to go back and find
01:39the book and tell the same premise but from the women characters point of view.
01:56My grandmother is from Germany and she was an immigrant herself. She came to America
02:00so there was something about becoming the character of feeling kind of like the outsider a bit.
02:09In that which was very touching and added a lot of layers to her. I think that everyone needs to be
02:16accepting and that's the sad part that we all just can't accept and
02:22you have to treat everything with love but it's hard to do for some people.
02:26Be yourself. I know that's such a cliche and it's hard to do that sometimes. I
02:41definitely understand that but it's such an important part to just stay true to who you
02:49are inside and whoever that may be. I've always tried to do that in this world. It's like well
02:56you know what I have myself and I could love myself and you know what yourself is the only
03:01person you can be. You can't be anybody else so you have to be that.
