This Victoria's Secret model is writing code, creating apps, and shutting down sexist online trolls.

00:00Basically, it was just a bunch of guys questioning my ability, probably because of the way I looked.
00:15I've walked into a room of male programmers, and they're talking, and the conversation suddenly
00:19stops, and I'll ask, hey, what were you guys talking about? And they'll say, oh,
00:23you wouldn't be interested, even though, of course, I would. I'm a coder, too.
00:30I'd seen this post before, a few times, where there was this meme that had my picture,
00:43followed by a couple of languages that I coded. There were comments saying, oh, yeah, right,
00:47what can she code? Hello, world. Hello, world is the first program you code in any language.
01:30I've gone to a hackathon, and I'm just waiting to get picked for the team, like, you know,
01:46the last kid in dodgeball, and no one picks me. I end up kind of being forced onto a team, and
01:54I'm given the easy, quick tasks.
02:09Since I listed my credentials out for those guys, so many women have replied to me with
02:18their own stories where they haven't been taken seriously in tech.
02:24So, it seems like a lot of minorities, sexual orientations, et cetera, the people that aren't
02:42the stereotypical techie seem to have to do a little bit more or a lot more to prove themselves.
02:51Programmers in all shapes and sizes, maybe they'll think twice before judging them,
02:56before knowing their abilities.
