00:00I resigned from my teaching position and today was my last day.
00:04So here we are, my last day as a teacher.
00:08My last day was on Friday, I have nothing lined up and that's okay because I almost died over that job.
00:25Education is about to topple in America.
00:29I mean what are you going to do next year without teachers y'all? What are you going to do?
00:41I decided pay was important and if I ever wanted to make more money, I had to get into a different career.
00:46I wasn't going to be able to afford to get an apartment on a teaching salary,
00:50so some of it was just like my personal financial goals did not line up with teaching,
00:54even if I did become an administrator, even still that was not enough money.
00:59We must really not respect teachers so much that we're not going to pay them more.
01:14We're choosing to die on that hill.
01:20I still don't have my school supplies for this school year and it is almost February.
01:26I have been paying for things out of my own pocket.
01:29Isn't it so exciting that all 30 of us have to share these 10 laptops to take that test?
01:35I have the Amazon wish list, I have added quite a few things.
01:37I love how the classroom is 55 degrees, it's amazing, my iced coffee is going to stay iced all day.
01:45Doing the daily job and being around 20 to 25 kids drains you mentally and emotionally,
01:50leaving very little left over for yourself.
01:52Many of us did not know the lack of financial growth, the lack of respect from admin, parents.
01:57No job should make you compromise your mental health, your physical health, your well-being,
02:01your personal relationships, your personal life in general.
02:04I got tired of being on a rigid kid's schedule and not being able to go to school.
02:08The people that I worked for did not treat me in a way that I am okay with.
02:13Because of the daily stress, I developed anxiety and I fell into a depression.
02:17I have been screamed at, I have been told horrifying things.
02:22Teachers and educators are starting to figure out what they're worth.
02:26These issues have been here for decades.
02:29This job was never easy, but it's never been this hard.
02:33There's the expectations from parents and admin to just pretend that everything is normal.
02:37And I finally found a job that was really hard.
02:40I've been told that I'm an idiot, I'm not a good person, I'm not worthy of this profession.
02:45I've had to go to the doctor, I've had to go to the doctor, I've had to go to the doctor, I've had to go to the doctor, I've had to go to the doctor.
