Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) and Leo Woodall (White Lotus) star alongside Renee Zellweger in the fourth installment in the 'Bridget Jones' series, 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.' The duo joked about their lack of fight scenes, being longwinded and what it's like to play love interests following such iconic former actors.

00:00What was the actual question?
00:02What was the question?
00:12So, you guys are obviously, you're playing new, brand new characters,
00:15but there's also kind of a fun echo of the first A,
00:18how did you feel about your characters,
00:19and how did you feel about those echoes of Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver?
00:24Yeah, I mean, echoes is the right word, but those two are irreplaceable.
00:29Neither one of us, nor the...
00:31Would attempt.
00:33Yeah, exactly.
00:35And they are new guys, they're really well written,
00:38and yeah, I love the echoes of the OGs,
00:43but it's nice to occupy a new space in Bridget's life.
00:47Sorry, I just...
00:48Agreed.
00:49Yeah, I agree with that.
00:51My only sadness was that you guys didn't get your own fight scene.
00:54That was a true sadness for me, too.
00:56Yeah, I wasn't so worried about that, actually.
00:58No, I don't blame you.
00:59No, not like that.
01:03You weren't dying to be each other after this.
01:05Yeah, exactly.
01:06He's not a fighter, Mr. Wallacher.
01:08He's, you know, he's evolved.
01:13It would take a lot.
01:14I'm not even sure Roxas is a fighter.
01:16I don't think he is.
01:17He's too happy to just be, you know, getting in a fight.
01:21Trees.
01:22Trees.
01:23Garbage.
01:24Just rescuing widows from trees and children, that's...
01:27He's not fighting anybody.
01:28What was appealing about joining this, you know,
01:30very iconic franchise in kind of 20-ish years in?
01:34Yeah, well, I love the films, you know, I suppose is the first thing.
01:37I love the Bridget Jones films.
01:39I love the Bridget Jones world.
01:41I think that, you know, obviously the films are kind of
01:44geared towards women, I suppose you'd say.
01:47The films have always had a huge male fan base as well, you know,
01:51me being one of them, you know,
01:52and I remember the first film coming out,
01:54I was kind of familiar with the book.
01:56I hadn't read the book,
01:57but I was aware of the kind of world of Bridget Jones,
01:59so I was excited to go and see the film and loved it
02:02and felt that it, you know, it spoke to where I was as well, you know,
02:05and Bridget's sort of reaction to the kind of chaos of the world
02:08or feeling out of step with the world, you know, felt familiar to me.
02:12And then, of course, these brilliantly written male characters as well,
02:15which were funny and iconic and charming
02:18in their own different, completely different ways,
02:20and so there was a lot to kind of relate to.
02:23And then when I read this script, I was like,
02:25I think this script is brilliant, you know.
02:27I think that it captures all of the elements that we love
02:30about the kind of Bridget Jones world,
02:32but it's also talking about the struggles that people have
02:36and the complications that you have as life moves forward
02:39and some of the different ways you face those struggles,
02:44but without losing any of the kind of humour and charm,
02:47but it is also emotional and, you know,
02:49and Mr. Wallacher, I thought, was just a great part,
02:51so I just, I had a blast, really.
02:54I got so lost in Churchill's answer.
02:58Rambling, rolling answer.
03:03I was very immersed in it.
03:04What was the actual question?
03:06What was the question?
03:11Surely it wasn't that rambling.
03:13And then when I was born...
03:17I did ask you to describe your life story.
03:20But that last winter was cold, I remember.
03:23Still doing it.
03:25So just what appealed to you about...
03:27Oh, yeah, lots.
03:29Lots appealed, everything appealed.
03:32What are both of your go-to non-Bridget Jones rom-coms?
03:36Well, I'm a big Bridget Curtis fan anyway.
03:38I love Notting Hill.
03:39Notting Hill's brilliant.
03:41I would say Notting Hill as well.
03:43You know, Roger Michel directing and just, you know,
03:47fantastic film.
03:49Yeah, that really is.
03:50That one shot through the seasons in Portobello Market.
03:52Very clever.
03:53Yeah.
03:54Honestly, Love Actually.
03:56And Love Actually.
03:57Love Actually is one of my all-time favourites.
03:59There's a lot of stick these days and I don't know why.
04:01I don't know why.
04:02I'm looking for something catchy.
04:04Most people love it though.
04:05I mean, it's funny, isn't it?
04:06Before all the stick you get, everybody watches it
04:08in that period between Christmas and Valentine's.
04:11It's like, Love Actually.
04:13I really know, I watch it before Christmas.
04:15Oh, you do?
04:16Radical.
04:17Radical.
04:18Leo, I have to ask you because White Lotus
04:20is about to start again.
04:21Have you seen any of the new season?
04:23Are you planning to watch it?
04:24Oh my God, I can't wait.
04:26I've only seen the trailer.
04:27I know a couple of things.
04:29Mostly I'm going to be watching it as an audience member
04:32and that's, I can't wait.
04:33Does it feel like that was a bit of a game changer
04:35for you in terms of?
04:36Oh, 1,000%.
04:37Yeah.
04:38It was a real strike of luck that I got that
04:41and it, yeah, sort of started a domino effect
04:44of opportunities.
04:45So thank you, Mike White.
04:47I think Rene has said that potentially, you know,
04:49Bridget could keep going potentially forever, right?
04:52Would you both be game for coming back?
04:54For sure.
04:55Yeah.
04:56I mean.
04:57Only if they include a fight between all of them.
05:00Well, you really want this to happen.
05:03It would be really fun.
05:05If it does come back, maybe it's inevitable.
05:07Maybe.
05:08Oh yeah, we would absolutely.
05:10Yeah, it'd be great if that were to happen
05:12but obviously at the moment that's not on the cards
05:15and so, you know, we'll just have to see but, yeah.
05:18Starting the campaign here for the.
05:20Exactly.
05:21Yes, exactly.
05:22Let's start the poll.
