Men's Journal learns the history of the Stonewall Inn IPA, Brooklyn Brewery's beer for celebrating Pride Month.
Transcript
00:00I'm Garrett Oliver. I'm brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery. Well, as people hopefully know, the
00:06Stonewall Inn was basically the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. In 1969,
00:14there was a confrontation with the police, and finally the people who were there said
00:18we're not backing down. And the Stonewall Inn has become not only a symbol, but it has
00:23the Stonewall Inn initiative to give back into the community. And they came to us and
00:27said, would you make a beer to go with prize celebrations? We were like, oh yeah, of course.
00:33And as we've worked with them more and more, we're kind of realizing like, wow, this is
00:37a thing where we can really not only make a great beer, but put our money where our
00:42mouths are as people who are going to stand up for diverse communities and for everybody's
00:46rights to be themselves, and also drink some really good beer at the same time. So we're
00:52super proud of that beer and think that it can go everywhere with us.
