00:00We're gonna win!
00:02Take this!
00:03Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the moments across the Pokémon anime and movies that slapped hard.
00:11Quick, use Leaf Storm!
00:18Number 10, the Aura is with me.
00:21There's a way to save the tree if we use the power of Aura.
00:25People might forget that there was indeed a time before Lucario dominated the scene as the most popular Pokémon,
00:31that he had his animated debut being in the Mystery of Mew movie.
00:36It's a fun ride, all culminating in Lucario having to sacrifice himself in order to save Mew,
00:41and by extension the entire Poké ecosystem.
00:45How so? By channeling his inner Jedi and unleashing his Aura to the max.
00:50The Aura is with me!
00:56No!
01:05It's almost a Poké parody, but Lucario's fluffy edginess makes the whole thing a blast to watch.
01:12I have to go, Ash. Aaron is waiting for me.
01:17Number 9, is that a freaking shiny Mega Rayquaza?
01:21Yes, it is, and its appearance, while having little sense within the anime's continuity, makes it one hell of a set piece.
01:29The finale of the Clash of Ages movie is essentially a brawl between a handful of legendary Pokémon,
01:35with the evil version of Hooper summoning every world ender it can get its rings on.
01:41Pikachu!
01:49Thankfully, Ash has an ace up his sleeve, as Rayquaza appears to aid in the battle.
01:54Only now, it's in its sleek, shiny form, and able to Mega Evolve.
01:59The Poké Drip has never been more immaculate.
02:06Number 8, X vs. Y.
02:09Let's get to it, Charizard!
02:23Charizard's glow-up in the Kalos region cannot be understated.
02:27Thanks to Mega Evolution, the iconic lizard was able to shift into one of two forms,
02:33each coming with a new elemental affinity and an incredible new design.
02:38Nowhere was this better demonstrated than the Lumios Conference,
02:42where Alain's Charizard trades claws against another of its kin.
02:46Mega Evolve!
02:49Charizard!
03:04Seeing Charizard X and Charizard Y compete to see who stands on top was a brief, yet brilliant highlight.
03:12Though naturally, X gon' give it to ya.
03:14Use Flamethrower!
03:19Charizard, no!
03:28Number 7, Counter-Encounter.
03:35On the one hand, this is borderline ridiculous.
03:38But on the other, it's great to see Ash's Lycanroc pull off such a spectacular win.
03:44You stoned it!
03:48And both trainers launch into the action with Stone Edge!
03:51Battling against the likes of Gladion's Lycanroc to earn himself the top crown,
03:56the two Alolan hounds go blow-for-blow,
03:59though Gladion's quickness on the draw leads to Ash's Lycanroc getting a full counter to the face.
04:06We're not done! Now, use Counter-Against-Counter!
04:10No way!
04:11But instead of succumbing to such a paltry thing like the rules of Pokémon,
04:16Ash commands Lycanroc to use Counter-Against-Counter.
04:20And it works!
04:22At the end of the day, the rule of cool always wins.
04:25Number 6, Volcanic Smackdown.
04:28Back when Charizard was still untrainable and was causing Ash a hard time,
04:38there was a single shining moment
04:40where the two joined forces and showcased
04:43how much of a beast Charizard can be when properly motivated.
04:48I'll fight fire with fire!
04:50Charizard Flamethrower Attack!
04:57Taking on Blaine's Magmar atop an active volcano,
05:01Charizard goes all out to demonstrate his strength.
05:04From catching a fire blast with his bare hands
05:07to sending Magmar hurtling into lava with a seismic toss,
05:11this is one of the OG anime's finest hours.
05:22Number 5, Ash's Greninja Pops Off.
05:25Here goes, Greninja!
05:28Full power!
05:38Ash had no shortage of incredible battles
05:41as he worked his way up towards the title match of the Lumiose Conference.
05:45Though arguably his best is when he and his Greninja
05:48took on Sawyer and his Mega Sceptile.
05:51Hey, let's go!
05:57The frantic pace and glorious animation
06:00paired with Ash and Greninja showcasing their battle power
06:04paired with Ash and Greninja showcasing their battle bond
06:07well and truly raised the bar for the franchise at the time.
06:11All capped off with them unleashing a Water Shuriken
06:15and cutting a path to victory.
06:17This is everything Greninja and I have got!
06:19Water Shuriken!
06:24Sceptile, use Leaf Storm!
06:35Number 4, David vs. Goliath, Pokemon Style.
06:39And Gigantamaxing!
06:51In terms of sheer spectacle,
06:53none have a patch on the Masters 8 tournament.
06:56Taking on the internet's favorite gym leader, Bea,
06:59Ash and his Lucario contend with the might of her Match Amp.
07:03Matching it every step of the way.
07:05Mega Evolve!
07:27The thrill of seeing Mega Lucario outperform,
07:30outmaneuver and eventually overpower a gigantic Match Amp
07:34is the kind of crazy that makes this animation's final outing
07:38such a thrill ride.
07:40Our favorite blue boy took down a Dynamax-fueled,
07:43four-armed Kaiju and came out the winner.
07:57Number 3, Mew Who?
08:00Charge!
08:06Turns out a Pokemon series without Ash
08:09can actually make for a fun watch.
08:11Though it certainly helps if your climax involves Charizard X
08:15beating the stuffing out of Mewtwo in a brutal slugfest.
08:19With only one catch separating him from a complete Pokédex,
08:23Red follows in the footsteps of gamers everywhere
08:26and takes on the full might of Mewtwo.
08:31Wow, Char's already evolved even further!
08:34And while the strongest of the original generation
08:37wipes out his old team,
08:39it's got nothing on a newly Mega Evolved Lizard.
08:42Who proceeds to beat the rare candy out of it?
08:51Number 2, Pikachu Brings the Thunder.
09:01Because just claiming the win in the Alola Region Championships
09:05wouldn't be enough.
09:07Not when you can go mano-a-mano
09:09with an equally thunderous would-be deity.
09:18Deciding it also wants a piece of the action,
09:21Tapu Koko willingly enters the fray
09:23to challenge Ash and Pikachu during their title fight
09:26to see if they're truly worthy of the crown.
09:29Getting to watch Pikachu unleash its Z-Move
09:32while rocking Ash's hat as it out-electrifies a legendary
09:36was the kind of epic ending we were not prepared for.

10:16Number 1, The Ultimate Battle.
10:25It was gonna take something truly special
10:27to usher in Ash's ascension to Master.
10:30And what could be more appropriate than Pikachu
10:32going against Charizard
10:34in the singular greatest match the anime has ever known?
10:39The animation is peak.
10:41Both of these classic Pokémon have never appeared more beastly
10:44and best of all...
10:49Awesome, Pikachu! Way to go!
10:51That's the essence of Pikachu and Dad!
10:54They have the original English opening
10:56blasting in the background
10:58as Pikachu and Charizard kick things up a gear
11:00and unleash their last attacks.
11:02Fans could not ask for more.
