00:00Rahul Gandhi in his latest podcast has spoken once again about merit system in India claiming
00:07that any merit system is unfair because he claims that that's an upper caste narrative.
00:15This particular comment has led to of course a huge political debate as well with the opposition
00:20mocking Rahul Gandhi for this comment.
00:23Rahul Gandhi has said that the merit system is unfair, that it's flawed and that it leads
00:28to an advantage for the upper caste.
00:31So Rahul Gandhi while making a case for the caste census spoke about in fact the merit
00:36system calling it flawed, calling it an upper caste narrative.
00:40Let's get to all of the reactions that have come in on this.
01:28Okay, so those are the reactions coming in but Rahul Gandhi taking on in fact the merit
01:51system has also led to the BJP questioning and saying what about all of those Dalits
01:57members of the SC, ST communities who have worked hard, who've progressed in public life
02:03through hard work and used the merit system to thrive.
02:07And so they're claiming that Rahul Gandhi with this kind of a comment has insulted every
02:10hardworking Dalit or OBC member by in fact dismissing the merit system.
02:17But remember that Rahul Gandhi while making a pitch for the caste census which he's done
02:21before as well has now completely dismissed the merit system saying that it's flawed,
02:26that it's an upper caste narrative.
02:27According to Rahul Gandhi there is no level playing field in the sense that the merit
02:32system is beneficial only to one community and not to the rest which is why he talks
02:37about a caste census.
02:39Mind you there is already reservation but Rahul Gandhi is perhaps pitching for more
02:44than just that when he talks about this particular issue.
