00:00Kentucky native John Stewart has certainly made a splash as he's gotten started in the
00:07racing business.
00:09Last year he was one of the leading buyers at Fasig-Tipton's November sale and Keeneland's
00:13September and November sale, and he also recently purchased a near-thousand acre farm formerly
00:18owned by Shadwell in Lexington, Kentucky.
00:21This year, he's turned his attention to an international stage.
00:25He started with the acquisition of four regally bred mares owned by Coolmore, and those mares
00:30just recently arrived at Resolute Farm.
00:33I've been a fan of racing my whole life, and so I moved to Lexington over 30 years ago.
00:38Always was interested in getting involved.
00:402022 I bought my first horse, and then just started evolving from there.
00:45I used to live back behind Shadwell here in Fisher's Mill in Midway.
00:48I lived there for about 10 years, and I've always admired this property out here and
00:53just thought it was beautiful.
00:54There hadn't been horses on this property since the Crown Prince had passed away, and
01:00they took such good care of it that it was really just like turnkey.
01:05We could just come on and start, and so we put an offer in and they accepted it, and
01:09then we bought the farm.
01:12I'm really interested in some of these European pedigrees and then bringing them into the
01:17U.S.
01:18I was over during Thanksgiving, I had some work that had to be done, and I had met M.V.
01:24Coolmore at the Breeders' Cup.
01:27So he takes us around, and we started seeing all of these really quality horses, and we
01:32settled on Happen, Pink Dogwood, Champagne, and Dramatically as the four that we brought
01:39over here.
01:40We're actually talking to him about a couple of more.
01:41You start to look at the pedigrees of the horses, depth is just something that you don't
01:46see, and I think that's one of the things you see in Europe that you don't see in America
01:51is you see more concentration of families.
01:54We were able to buy these all in foal, and so we have three colts and one filly expected
02:00out of these horses.
02:02And to have a Frenkel, which is on the ground now, and a huge 140-pound foal is super exciting.
02:08You just don't see that on every farm here.
02:10And we have a Siuni here, a filly, and you don't see that a lot.
02:14Those were a couple of stallions that I was really interested in.
02:17Coolmore gave us a big step in that direction to creating the foundation for what's going
02:22to be the future of the farm.
02:24I'm international with my business, so I started my business in 2018.
02:28It's a private equity firm that invests in industrial companies.
02:31It's actually really pretty efficient for me to go to Europe.
02:36I'm there probably three or four times a quarter.
02:40And again, I respect the bloodlines over there.
02:43I respect a lot of the farms that are over there, and to get access into that environment,
02:48I would envision in the future, like it'll probably be the next place we'll be racing
02:52horses will be over in Europe.
02:55But there's not an immediate plan for that, but I would expect that in the future.
