00:002025 is going to be full of open world games and Gameranx has got them all, at least the

00:07ones that are probably going to be talked about the most.

00:09Hi folks, it's Falcon, and today on Gameranx, the top 25 open world games of 2025, starting

00:16off with number 25, The Precinct.

00:19If you've ever wondered what it's like to be a cop in a neon soaked 1980s inspired city,

00:25at this point, you probably don't wonder, you probably experienced this a couple times,

00:29The Precinct puts you in the shoes of a rookie cop by the name of Nick Cordell.

00:34Now to be fair, this is not a cyberpunk game, it is actually set in 1983, yes there are

00:40quite a few neon lights, no it is not cyberpunk, it's basically reverse Grand Theft Auto, you're

00:46a cop, and we're not talking like massive stuff only, like oh my god, there's a terrorist

00:52attack going down and I the cop am the only one that can, no, it's parking tickets, mundane

00:57stuff, but it does go up to bank heists.

01:09The Precinct is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox series sometime this year.

01:14At number 24 is Mind's Eye, a single player action adventure thriller set in a kind of

01:21AI cyberpunk hyper capitalism.

01:24You got the Blade Runner, you got the Total Recall, you got the greedy CEOs and the neural

01:30implants and the amnesia, your whole idea is figuring out what the hell has happened

01:36to you and surviving what looks like a completely crazy world.

01:39Honestly, pretty cool looking game, Mind's Eye is landing on PC, PS5, and Xbox series

01:44in the summer.

01:55At number 23 it's Atomfall, you take a little stalker, take a little fallout, take even

02:00maybe a little bit of Bioshock, and that's what Atomfall looks like here.

02:05So this game takes place as an alternate 1962 Britain, you're in a quarantined countryside

02:13in an area five years after a nuclear disaster with mutated creatures, cults, all that shit.

02:30You got exploration, you got crafting, survival, moral choices, honestly, looks like a lot

02:34of fun.

02:35If you like Fallout London, probably have a look at this.

02:38Atomfall is coming to the PlayStation, the Xbox, and PC March 27th.

02:49At number 22 is Assassin's Creed Shadows, how could we not be talking about this one?

02:54Feudal Japan, honestly, probably the best place for an Assassin's Creed, takes place

02:58during the Sengoku period, you got Naue, a ninja, and Yasuke, an African born brawler.

03:05Naue is made up, Yasuke is actually a historical figure, although the accuracy of the depiction

03:12will no doubt be up for debate.

03:15Basically Assassin's Creed realized they were being out Assassins created by Ghost of Tsushima

03:19and went wild.

03:21Finally what it needs to be, it's, I mean, the stealth is really solid, setting is, it's

03:26incredible.

03:27Ubisoft never really doesn't make beautiful detailed worlds, but it's not the world that's

03:32really the problem, it's often other little things.

03:35There's some repetitive side activities you're going to see in games, some rough story spots,

03:40but honestly, I think a lot of people are going to be happy with this one.

03:44Or maybe a little pickier, but also, I mean, it's good to see the series on the up.

03:48Assassin's Creed Shadows is landing on PS5, Xbox Series, iPad, and PC on March 20th.

03:56At number 21 it is Crimson Desert, what started out as an expansion or maybe a sequel to Black

04:02Desert Online, turned into like Game of Thrones and The Witcher wrapped up into one crazy

04:08looking thing.

04:09You're a battle weary mercenary haunted by his past, and your only therapy is like sword

04:16fights.

04:17I don't know, there's a lot more than sword fights going on here.

04:27You saw the trailer.

04:28It's nuts.

04:29Crimson Desert is coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC late this year.

04:43At number 20 is Dune Awakening.

04:45Hey, you want a Dune MMO?

04:47Well, that's it.

04:49You got one.

04:50Basically, we're looking at kind of a Conan Exiles meets No Man's Sky type situation.

04:55You start with a knife, you scavenge for resources, build shelters, and also it's Dune, so everything

05:02wants to destroy you.

05:13Will you become the king of the spice trade?

05:15We'll see.

05:16Dune Awakening is landing on PC May 20th, with a PS5 and Xbox Series release coming

05:22sometime later.

05:33At number 19 is Like A Dragon, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

05:37Oh boy, Like A Dragon is crazy, and here is a canon entry into the series where girl Majima

05:43is a pirate.

05:44He wakes up with amnesia on a Hawaiian island, and for whatever reason, that means he ended

05:49up a pirate pretty quickly.

05:51We've talked about this game plenty.

05:53It's fun as hell.

05:54It's crazy.

05:55It's not necessarily on exactly the level of, say, Infinite Wealth, but it's definitely

06:00a worthwhile trip into this world as Majima bringing his Mad Dog style, which if you've

06:06played the games, you already know.

06:08Sea Dog style, which is a new style where you have a cutlass and pistols, you dual wield.

06:13It's crazy.

06:14And yes, you do have a ship.

06:16It's not quite Black Flag, but it's certainly much better than Skull and Bones.

06:20This one's been out a while.

06:21I've played it.

06:22I've enjoyed it.

06:23I recommend it.

06:24It's out on the Playstations, the Xboxes, and PC.

06:34At number 18 is Ghost of Yotai.

06:37We've moved forward about three centuries from the Ghost of Tsushima, so we're dealing

06:42with slightly more modern things.

06:44Not necessarily powerfully more modern, but obviously Jin Sakai is not alive anymore.

06:51You're Atsu, a different warrior, and I don't know if it's going to exactly be like more

06:55of Ghost of Tsushima or if they're throwing in some other elements, like maybe we'll see

07:00a little bit of Sekiro stuff in it.

07:01I do hope Atsu's journey is as compelling as Jin's.

07:05We'll see.

07:07Ghost of Yotai is coming to PS5 later in the year.

07:10At number 17 is Alkahest.

07:11Hey, you like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic?

07:14You like Kingdom Come?

07:16Would you like maybe even a little bit, little tiny bit of kind of looks like maybe Bioshock?

07:21I'm not sure, but we got an adventure RPG that looks like we got some sort of all chemical

07:27chaos tossed into a kind of, I hesitate to say dishonored exactly, but I also can't help

07:33but think of it.

07:34I mean, you have a complex alchemy system here, which is something none of those games

07:38have.

07:48But I don't know.

07:49It looks pretty interesting to me.

07:51I hope it's anything like any of the games I'm talking about.

07:53Maybe a little Skyrim, maybe a little Resident Evil thrown in there as well.

07:56I don't know.

07:57It's one of those games where I'm interested to see where it goes because I get a little

08:00bit of a sense of a lot of different things here.

08:02This one's coming to PC.

08:04We do not have a date for it yet, though.

08:15At number 16 is Hell is Us.

08:17This one puts you into the shoes of Remy, who is a UN peacekeeper.

08:22He goes AWOL to go back to his home country of Hodea to uncover his roots.

08:28But it's also crawling with what they're calling hollow walkers sound very Death Stranding

08:33to me.

08:34But the game itself is very different.

08:36You have sort of archaic melee weapons because the hollow walkers are immune to like modern

08:42weaponry.

08:43So you got kind of a Dark Souls meets Death Stranding meets Spec Ops the line thing.

08:49Definitely an odd combo, but something that looks interesting.

08:52Hell is Us is coming to PS5, Xbox Series and PC on September 4th.

08:56And number 15 is Ark 2.

08:58Hey, remember Ark?

08:59That crazy prehistoric survival game?

09:02Well, hey, guess what?

09:03It's going more fast and more furious because now it has Vin Diesel.

09:07That's not really all that's different from the first one.

09:09It's got a massive overhaul.

09:11World looks incredible.

09:12You got third person souls like combat, which I think probably a good idea.

09:17But I think perhaps the most interesting aspect here is full platform cross mod support in

09:24Unreal Engine 5, meaning Bethesda really has no more excuses.

09:28Time to move to a new engine, guys.

09:30At least, I mean, if this game is awful, maybe they have an excuse, but we'll see.

09:34We'll see.

09:35It looks good to me.

09:36Ark 2 is coming to Xbox Series and PC late in the year.

09:40And number 14 is Light No Fire, Hello Games' next game after No Man's Sky.

09:46Interesting aspect about this is they've gone from every planet to one planet.

09:51This is a procedurally generated world the size of Earth.

09:54I know this might sound like a bit of a stretch, but I have kind of Valheim meets Breath of

09:59the Wild vibes on this.

10:01Maybe a little Tears of the Kingdom in there, too.

10:03You got all these caves and stuff, you know?

10:05Looks a little more sandboxy than Breath of the Wild, like more sand...

10:08Not necessarily in...

10:09I don't know how to put this.

10:11You got building.

10:12You don't really build in Breath of the Wild, or Valheim for that matter.

10:15I don't know.

10:17It's a Hello Games game.

10:18I have a feeling there's gonna be a lot of stuff that you recognize from No Man's Sky,

10:22but it looks like there's a lot of other things here, too.

10:24Might know Fire's coming to PC late this year, speculatively speaking.

10:29At number 13 is Exoborn.

10:31We're really starting to feel Death Stranding's impact on the gaming world.

10:36So this game has the United States transformed into a chaotic wasteland and has you navigating

10:42dynamic weather events.

10:44Sounds a little familiar, doesn't it?

10:46To be fair, the focus of this is battles and customizing your exo-rig, which is...

10:52I mean, I don't say this in a bad way.

10:54Looks like what maybe Anthem could have been.

11:02I don't know.

11:03Maybe it'll be good.

11:04Maybe it'll be bad.

11:05I am going to err on the side of positivity and say it looks like what Anthem could have

11:09potentially been meets Death Stranding.

11:12Maybe?

11:13If it's that, actually, that'd be super interesting.

11:15Exoborns come into PS5, Xbox Series, and PC later in the year.

11:23At number 12 is Project Perceiver.

11:29An open world action game brought to us by Paper Games 17 ZHE Studio.

11:35I have no idea how to say that.

11:37But you step into the role of Master of Varietas.

11:41You're a figure of perceiving and consolidating diverse ideals into powerful masks.

11:46I don't know what that means.

11:48It sounds cool though, does it not?

11:50Because you can wear these masks and they grant you different combat abilities and...

11:55I don't know.

11:56Is this Majora's Mask meets Sakuro?

12:07Possibly.

12:08Probably not.

12:09I mean, I'm kind of being a little facetious with that.

12:12It does look like it has elements of Sakura and the mask thing.

12:16I'm having fun with it.

12:18Project Perceiver is coming to the Playstations and possibly other platforms.

12:22They have not announced it, nor have they announced a release date.

12:35At number 11 is The Outer Worlds 2.

12:37So The Outer Worlds is a fantastic game from Obsidian.

12:41This is the sequel.

12:42It takes place in a different star system, the Arcadia star system.

12:46I mean, we're basically talking about, like, perhaps what Starfield should have been.

12:51Although it's got a little bit more of that Fallout energy, where there's a tinge of that

12:55silliness, almost a Futurama kind of thing.

12:59If Futurama was a little more serious.

13:01I don't know.

13:02I enjoy the hell out of The Outer Worlds.

13:04I will enjoy the hell out of The Outer Worlds 2.

13:07It's that simple.

13:08Coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC later in the year.

13:12At number 10 is The Ballad of Antara.

13:15A Souls-like that is actually a free-to-play.

13:17You don't really see that too often.

13:20More of a, I don't know, actually a lot of people copied the Breath of the Wild template

13:23for free-to-plays.

13:24Basically, imagine if Genshin Impact was more modeled off Dark Souls.

13:29I mean, we got some pretty interesting looking landscapes here.

13:32Pretty lot of variety.

13:33You got the forests, you got the wastelands, you got, I don't know, this is a different

13:38looking one.

13:39Obviously, free-to-plays have a lot of peril involved in the possibilities of how they

13:43fleece you for cash, but there's potential here.

13:46Ballad of Antara is coming to the PS5 and PC, as well as mobile platforms, later in

13:52the year.

13:54At number nine is Dying Light the Beast.

13:56We thought Kyle Crane was gone for good, but he ain't.

13:59Instead, he endured 13 years of experimentation.

14:03Not cool.

14:04So Kyle decides that he's gonna get revenge on the people behind all of those experiments.

14:10So 13 years of experiments.

14:12Not cool.

14:13Not cool.

14:14Couple of things you have here.

14:15First, Kyle Crane now can go werehog.

14:18Second off, he's got a grappling hook.

14:20What's not to like about either of those things?

14:22In my opinion, we're definitely talking about something that looks like a fun game.

14:27Dying Light the Beast is coming to the PlayStations, the Xboxes, and PC in the summer.

14:32At number eight is Borderlands 4.

14:35Ah, Borderlands 4.

14:36Gearbox telling us we're raining in the humor from the third.

14:41It's not like there's gonna be no humor, but we're gonna try to be a little darker, a little

14:44more mature.

14:45We'll see how many fart jokes that includes.

14:48Probably some.

14:49I can't imagine none.

14:50But we are apparently dealing with a fully open world, no loading screens, grappling

14:54hooks gliding, tons of new guns.

14:57It's Borderlands, so I think you should know what you're getting with it.

15:00But man, does it seem like they expanded on the formula in a good way.

15:03I mean, obviously, that's just from looking at it.

15:06We'll see what it's like when we're playing it, but Borderlands 4 looks like a hell of

15:09a lot of fun.

15:10It's coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC September 23rd this year.

15:17At number seven is the Gothic 1 remake.

15:19Been 20 years.

15:21Alchema Interactive says to us, man, be nice if there was a Gothic remake.

15:25Piranha Bytes arguably pioneered a genre that they pretty much dominated themselves, and

15:31even though it kind of went downhill, I have said it many times on this channel, including

15:35in my Before You Buys, I don't like the Alyx games.

15:38I think they were tedious in a way that wasn't charming in the way Gothic's tedium is, but

15:45that's another topic.

15:46I'm interested to see how all of these old school faction things, how does it work out

15:52with modern graphics, with modernized controls?

15:55Is it going to be something that people want to play nowadays, or is it going to be something

15:59that turns people off?

16:00I'm actually super interested in the implications of making a Gothic remake, and we'll see how

16:05that lands when it hits on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC later in the year.

16:12At number six is where wins meet.

16:14This is a martial arts centric open world game that obviously combines handcraft and

16:20sword craft with the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period of ancient China.

16:25Man, are we getting a bunch of history lessons about China's feudal eras, aren't we?

16:31Now what's interesting is that beyond the combat stuff, you're going to get roles like

16:35doctor or merchant, and you actually have influence over the world around you.

16:40I don't know, I get Witcher vibes, Witcher 3 vibes from this game.

16:44Even though it looks like the combat is probably nothing like the Witcher 3, it feels a lot

16:48like that world.

16:49Where wins meet is going to PS5 and PC sometime this year.

16:53It's already out in China.

16:55I'm not in China, you're not in China, at least you're probably not in China, so we'll

17:00get it later in the year.

17:02At number five is Terminator Survivors.

17:04Well, I'll be frank.

17:06Yes, I would like a Fallout game set in the Terminator universe.

17:10Now it obviously is more survival oriented than Fallout, and there is a lot more base

17:16oriented survival oriented type battles with Terminator units that you could co-op with

17:22up to four players.

17:23It looks like a pretty fun Terminator game.

17:26This is a game, as a series of games, Terminator has had some duds, but this one looks like

17:31it's got quite a bit of potential.

17:33Terminator Survivors is coming to PC via Steam Early Access and then consoles at a later

17:39date.

17:40Look out for that.

17:41At number four is Monster Hunter Wilds.

17:43This one's out.

17:44I don't really know what to say to you about this game that you probably haven't heard

17:48yet.

17:49It is a slightly more streamlined version of Monster Hunter World with some elements

17:53of Monster Hunter Rise, little bit more verticality, not necessarily the traversal stuff, but yeah,

17:59I mean, it's a Monster Hunter game.

18:01It's a big Monster Hunter game and man, does it manage to do what it tries to do?

18:05I hesitate to say it's the best Monster Hunter game yet because obviously people have different

18:10tastes and it is certainly one that introduced some controversial streamlining of certain

18:15things, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

18:18Monster Hunter Wilds is already out on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

18:23At number three is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

18:25Again, this is one that's out.

18:27We've had time with it and it is definitely an upgrade from the first.

18:30They actually pulled a pretty clever thing and made it so that your reset of abilities

18:35and everything at the start of the game makes perfect sense.

18:38You get robbed, you get hurt, and then you start from the beginning.

18:41You got more bohemia to deal with this time around and honestly, Kingdom Come Deliverance

18:462 just really delivers on being a bigger, better Kingdom Come Deliverance.

18:51It's out across all platforms now.

18:53I highly recommend it.

18:54It's a lot of fun.

18:55Check it out.

18:56Moving on to number two, it's Death Stranding 2 on the beach.

19:01I mean, it looks like if you threw in some more Metal Gear into Death Stranding in a

19:05good way.

19:06Honestly, it all looks completely insane.

19:09Seems like our man Kojima wants to have Troy Baker as Kefka from Final Fantasy 6 in a game.

19:17Looks crazy.

19:18Looks absolutely...

19:19I mean, how could you not want more Death Stranding?

19:22It's a completely insane game that works despite itself, and at very least, even if

19:26it's not your thing normally, it's more than a little interesting.

19:30And then toss in Neil, aka Solid Snake again.

19:34What the hell is happening?

19:35You're not gonna have to wait too long for this.

19:37It's coming to PS5 on June 26th.

19:41And finally, at number one, it's Grand Theft Auto 6.

19:44Obviously, this game is coming out this year, and therefore, it's the biggest open-world

19:48game of the year, period.

19:50That's what's gonna happen.

19:51You might have dual protagonists.

19:54We've heard nothing that contradicts this.

19:55It looks like there's dual protagonists.

19:57Set in fake Miami, Vice City.

20:00Seems like we're getting kind of a Florida as San Andreas type game.

20:04I'm good with that.

20:05I want that.

20:06I'm excited to play that.

20:07I'm excited to see what they do with this game.

20:10As much as we do know about it, we don't know a lot about it.

20:13I have a feeling they're gonna beat us over the head with something completely new that

20:16we did not expect, and I'm excited for that.

20:19Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PS5 and Xbox series late this year.
