00:00If you're already on the top of the mountain in the Philippines, why not go hiking abroad?

00:11Like the highest point of Taiwan.

00:13Let's go there together with Ian Cruz.

00:16Level up the mountain.

00:23Let's hike abroad Jade Mountain or in Chinese, Yushan.

00:28The highest mountain in Taiwan.

00:31If it's going to be high, it must be more than 1,000 meters.

00:36Our destination is Mt. Apok.

00:38But Matthew didn't make that up.

00:41The most challenging part of hiking is the cold.

00:46It's still a different feeling when it's negative 2 degrees Celsius.

00:52I think I wore four layers of clothes and it still wasn't enough to make me comfortable.

00:57But I made it through and made it to the summit in the end.

01:00So I'm very grateful for that.

01:02It's a two-day hike.

01:03It's an 8-hour trek from the jump off to the mountain lodge or rest area.

01:09And it's a 3-hour hike until you reach the highest point.

01:14The view is breathtaking.

01:16It's like you're just in your imagination.

01:18And you feel like you've succeeded.

01:21This is my first international hike.

01:23And for me, I'm very emotional on the summit.

01:26It's comparable to Mt. Pulag where there's no sea of clouds.

01:30You can see the layers of mountains.

01:33It's like a painting.

01:34The signal is strong in the mountains.

01:37So it's easy to call if there's an emergency.

01:39So for those looking for a place to start their mountain journey abroad,

01:45you can start with Yushan.

01:48The mountains in other countries are not a joke.

01:51That's when things start to get a bit scary.

01:53But it doesn't have to be scary as long as you're prepared.

01:56And you can prepare by starting small and starting with mountains here in the Philippines first.

02:01And now after that hike, I'm excited to go on an international hike again.
