00:00About a week later than expected, thanks to some slow counts and tight contests, but Roger
00:06Cook's new cabinet has been officially sworn in here at Government House.
00:11All 17 of his ministers carrying new responsibilities into this term of parliament.
00:17The biggest changes though have come in health, where instead of having one minister responsible
00:21for the whole system, there will now be four.
00:24The lead health minister, that's a first time minister, Meredith Hammett, will be assisted
00:29by a minister for health infrastructure, a minister for preventative health, and working
00:34closely with a minister for aged care, with the hope that by moving people out of hospitals
00:40and into aged care, they can free up some extra capacity in the system.
00:45That's just one of the many big and complex tasks ahead for this government, something
00:50Premier Roger Cook was keen to remind them of this morning, challenging them ahead of
00:55this next term of government.
00:57Today I am proud to present my WA Labor team, a team that will never take the trust of the
01:05WA community for granted, that will work hard every day to repay that trust.
01:12Congratulations to everyone that was sworn in today, and now let's get back to work.
01:21That work will begin very shortly after some celebrations here at Government House with
01:25friends and family, with so many ministers taking on new responsibilities, there will
01:29be lots of briefings, lots of conversations to get up to speed before the real work begins
01:35in the days ahead.
