00:00Kate Middleton is going green for St. Patrick's Day in more ways than one, recycling some
00:05old looks into a new fit for her return as the honorary colonel of the Irish Guards for
00:10the annual holiday parade in London. Here she is, in a bespoke bottle green coat and
00:15matching scarf for this year's festivities. The coat's from Alexander McQueen, a favorite
00:19label of Kate's. It's the same fashion house that made her 2011 wedding gown. People magazine
00:24says we've seen this coat before, as the Princess of Wales also wore it when she visited Boston
00:29in November 2022.
00:30And that's not the only piece that's being trotted out again for the big parade. Kate's
00:34Percher hat is the same one she wore for the event back in 2019, made by the oldest hat
00:40maker in the world, London's Lock & Company. Here's a view from the back, showing off her
00:44sleek updo. Also a repeat this year, her tourmaline and diamond earrings, from Kiki McDonough.
00:51They're the same ones she wore to the parade in 2018 and 2019, according to the Daily Mail.
00:56Eagle-Eyed Royal Watchers says this Grace Hahn handbag of Kate's, briefly seen as she
01:01arrived at the event, is the same one she carried at a rugby match on Sunday. And it
01:05was spotted in this promotional video from the designer back in January 2024. So, Kate's
01:10clearly still living up to the Thrifty Kate nickname the tabloids gave her when she first
01:15joined the royal family, earned by refusing to bow to the pressures of sporting a fresh,
01:20head-to-toe look for every major outing.
01:22Three cheers for the Cardinal and the regiment! Hip hip! Hooray!
01:27Completing her fit this go-round, over-the-knee boots from Ralph Lauren and gloves from Cornelia
01:32James, as ID'd by Women's Wear Daily. Finally, there's the Cartier shamrock brooch, loaned
01:37to the royal family for the occasion by the Irish Guards. So we've seen it in several
01:41past parades, sharing space near her lapel with the freshest accessory of the season,
01:46a sprig of actual shamrocks.
01:48Kate's back this year after missing the 2024 parade while recovering from abdominal surgery,
01:53ahead of her big announcement later in March that she was receiving cancer treatment. Her
01:57cancer is in remission now, and the princess was beaming during her solo visit with the
02:01troops and their Irish Wolfhound mascot Seamus, of course, who looked fetching in this red
02:06number, complete with his own shamrock sprig.
02:08An all-green look makes sense for the holiday, but Kate's mixed it up for previous parades.
02:13Most notably, in 2015, she wore this brown Catherine Walker coat when she was pregnant
02:17with Princess Charlotte, and in 2023, it was a teal look chosen to match the teal plumes
02:22in the bearskin caps worn by the troops, according to People.
02:26After this year's parade, Kate, thirsty from shopping her own closet, enjoyed a half pint
02:30of Guinness with her lunch, and even picked up the tab for the Irish Guards, putting money
02:34behind the bar, reportedly saying it was the least she could do. The Daily Mail also reports
02:39that Kate chatted with the troops about her kids, Prince William's trendy beard, and her
02:43family choosing to live in Windsor instead of in London, because Windsor has, quote,
02:47more green space.
02:49The Princess of Wales has celebrated the holiday with these troops almost every year since
02:52marrying William in 2011, but it wasn't until Queen Elizabeth's death in 2022 that Kate
02:57became their honorary colonel, taking up the mantle from her husband, who's now the next
03:01in line to the throne.
