Interview with Ishana Shyamalan of The Watchers
Transcript
00:00You know, you've been on sets since you were a kid.
00:02I was wondering if there was a specific thing
00:06that you feel like you've gathered
00:07that you really wanted to bring to this specific set,
00:10in terms of, also, like, in terms of, like,
00:11bringing the suspense and tension
00:13that the actors have to feel.
00:15Absolutely.
00:16I mean, I think, learned so many things, I think,
00:20through my opportunity to sort of observe
00:24my dad on sets and things like that.
00:26I think the process of, yeah, creating suspense
00:30is a very difficult thing and requires,
00:35yeah, like, a lot of kind of curation, almost,
00:38and then release to create something
00:40that feels very naturally scary.
00:42I mean, I very much operated under the belief
00:44that sort of it's whatever's outside of the frame
00:47is always scarier than what's in the frame,
00:49because it's your imagination running wild.
00:51So I tried to sort of play with that feeling
00:54throughout the movie.
