00:00Hello everyone, today I'm going to be answering your burning questions, and first, is Adobe better than Canva?
00:05Short answer, yes, and this video is sponsored by Adobe, but today first I'm going to be showing you my story of how I switched from Canva to Adobe.
00:12If you don't believe me quite yet, let me just give you a little story.
00:16So here is my Instagram page, I'm at 289,000 followers on Instagram, 451,000 on YouTube, and 309,400 on TikTok.
00:28And I blew up back in 2022, the very end during Christmas time, on TikTok, but I really started on Instagram as most photographers and Instagrammers are artists.
00:41They all started on Instagram posting in feed posts.
00:44I started college in 2020, and I was going for art and photography, so I had to take all of those prerequisite art classes, trying to make my way as a starving artist and starving college student.
00:55So whenever I tried to create art, I had used Photoshop in high school, but as I was out on my own with a full-time job that did not pay well, and trying to pay for college, and housing, and food, I was like, I don't know if I can pay for Adobe Photoshop.
01:13So I was like, oh, I had heard of this new app called Canva, and so I started using it.
01:17If you scroll all the way down, you can kind of see it's pretty obvious that I'm using some kind of free app to get by.
01:25But then, you know, as the years went by, which I guess it was only two years, but I had been doing this for a little bit, and it was really a struggle.
01:35And I was like, I just want to use Photoshop, but it just seems so expensive.
01:39It's literally only like $10 a month if you're a student.
01:41So I was like, you know what, I'm just going to bite the bullet, and I'm going to get it.
01:45So I got it, and then literally from there, that was like September of 2022, I started using Photoshop.
01:53And funny enough, that is when Adobe Express kind of came to be.
01:56It's been a long time coming, but it was more official in 2022.
02:01So I started using that for my thumbnails and my post.
02:04And yes, let me just tell you, significantly, I grew from like 800 followers to then 4,000 followers.
02:11And then it just went, it exponentially grew from there.
02:15So anyway, I'm going to be teaching you how I kind of use Adobe Express and Photoshop in my workflow.
02:21Just so you guys can kind of get an idea of what you can use.
02:24And there are a lot of free options.
02:27And I would say there are definitely more than Canva had.
02:29I felt like with Canva, I would always get stuck with like,
02:32pay for a subscription so you can use all of the, you know, advanced features.
02:38So I really like Adobe Express and Photoshop,
02:40because there's a lot of free options if you still want to do that.
02:43First off, if you just open Adobe Express, and you can open it on the web or even your phone,
02:49there are a lot of free options, or like a lot of quick,
02:53there are a lot of quick actions that you can do.
02:54So you can start from your content, generate with AI,
02:57explore quick actions, which we're going to do.
03:01Profile picture maker, remove background, generate a QR code,
03:05logo maker, and all of these things, which is so cool.
03:10I love how creative this just makes me feel.
03:13It kind of feels endless versus I just remember as a artist in the beginning,
03:19it felt so frustrating to promote my art.
03:23But now it just feels more fun.
03:25Let's just start with a logo maker, because even though I have made it as an artist,
03:30and I do it as a full time job, I don't have a logo.
03:34So let's figure that out.
03:37So my business is Sarah Snapshots.
03:44None of those.
03:45Other, enter a slogan, I'm a photo editor.
03:51So creating memories.
03:57Let's just do that.
03:59Oh, what do we like?
04:01Organic, elegant, bold, or minimal?
04:07I feel like this is kind of basic.
04:10Bold looks a little weird.
04:12So maybe elegant.
04:15Yeah, I like that one.
04:17Elegant.
04:20Okay, and a fun fact about me is I used to live in Italy.
04:23So this is kind of catching my name.
04:25And I love red.
04:26So let's go with that one.
04:29And it has the S.
04:30So, oh, that's cute.
04:32Sarah Snapshots, creating memories.
04:34Honestly, I love that.
04:36That is so cute.
04:37It's pretty easy to read.
04:39So we can either download it.
04:42And then I have my logo.
04:44And then edit more.
04:47Edit more so I could add more stuff to this.
04:51I think the really fun thing though,
04:53is I can do a ton of stuff here for future reference.
04:58So here are my pages.
05:00And I can add another page if I want to add to that logo.
05:03If let's say I'm like a graphic designer
05:05and I just kind of want to start.
05:07Here's where I can go to the next page, right?
05:09And here's your pages again.
05:12If you want to duplicate, duplicate page,
05:15you just go right here.
05:17And you can delete the page if you want.
05:20So let's go here.
05:20So that's a square post.
05:22But let's say I need something bigger.
05:24Let's try a YouTube thumbnail.
05:27Duplicate, resize.
05:29There we go.
05:29So I did extra steps.
05:31But so now you have that, which is a little bit bigger.
05:35And if I want to transform it into literally anything else,
05:38it's all just right here.
05:40And again, how to go to that is resize.
05:42And you can go to theme.
05:44You can change your theme.
05:46You can add animation if you're trying to make,
05:48you know, a little Instagram story.
05:51Background color, if you want to change it for maybe a season,
05:54make it look more spring.
05:57Translate, which is a super cool new feature,
06:01which has like a ton of new languages that you can translate.
06:05That is super cool.
06:06Given that I do speak a little Spanish, French, and fluent Italian,
06:11I can kind of change my stuff so that people who reach out to me
06:15from all over the world, I can kind of cater it towards them.
06:19So that's super cool.
06:22Now let's move on from that and check out the other fun stuff.
06:26I'm just going to keep adding onto a page from here,
06:30just because I like to keep it all together.
06:32So since this is a YouTube video
06:34and you know I'm going to be making a YouTube thumbnail,
06:36let's make one together.
06:37This part, sometimes I dread because it's just like,
06:40oh, I've got to make a YouTube thumbnail.
06:41So we're going to start going to templates first
06:44and you can kind of look up, like, look at what it already is listed.
06:49If you're looking for design, like maybe spring template or spring.
06:54Let's do, I cannot spell today, YouTube thumbnail.
07:01Um, spring vlog.
07:04That one is kind of cute.
07:08So let's just go with that.
07:11And so you can start a new file.
07:12I'm just going to add it as pages.
07:15Spring vlog.
07:16I think that's super cute.
07:18The photo and you can either erase from it,
07:20remove an object, insert an object, or select the background.
07:24Let's delete this.
07:27Well, this isn't a spring vlog.
07:29So let me just change it to,
07:34I don't know what to do for Adobe versus.
07:40This all the way up seems like a little too bright.
07:42So I'm just going to turn down the opacity just a little bit.
07:45So the words pop out because my focus really isn't the background.
07:49And there you have it.
07:50And if you need to resize it, let's say for a Instagram story,
07:55if I'm trying to like direct people to my YouTube duplicate and resize.
08:10And there it is.
08:11Ah, I love that.
08:12And it gives you three different options.
08:15And I think I like the second one.
08:18Perfect.
08:18And we've made all of that in less than five minutes,
08:21which is super cool to kind of make your creations quick, easy, and fun.
08:26So last thing I want to do is make a profile picture
08:28because I haven't seen this yet and it seems really cool.
08:31So let's browse my files.
08:34I'm going to be using my profile picture right now,
08:37just to kind of show you how AI is just so pristine now
08:43when I'm like removing the background and adding images and stuff like that.
08:46So let's go to my Adobe profile pic here.
08:52Generating a precise profile picture for you.
08:55So I don't even have to do anything.
08:56And look at that.
08:58How cute.
08:59So some of these are a little cheesy.
09:02Honestly, this one is kind of cute because those are the Adobe colors, like the rainbow.
09:08This one I feel like matches really well.
09:10This is kind of cute.
09:11This kind of goes with what I already had,
09:15which I feel like makes it better.
09:17So there's like not like that building in the background.
09:19So let's just do this one.
09:21And then edit more.
09:30Cute.
09:31So of course, you can move it up and down how you like.
09:36And if you want to erase more, you can go and like refine those edges.
09:42Oh, that's just the quick selection.
09:47You can do the circle brush and kind of manually edit.
09:51So really fun stuff you can just manually do here.
09:56And one last thing.
09:57I lied.
09:57I just can't get enough of this.
10:00But if you go back to the quick actions to generate with AI, there's all of these.
10:05And I actually use generate text effects a lot because I do think it makes my content
10:11more interesting.
10:13Or right, you can generate a template, which I have used a lot, which this one kind of
10:19like choosing a template.
10:20You can kind of describe what you're looking for and it'll generate for you.
10:23And you can work from there.
10:24You can start by generating image, removing objects and insert objects like we were doing
10:29before and then generate text effects.
10:32And if this all seems like a lot of information for you, I promise, like even if you just
10:38spent not like a full day, but one day, like kind of making a project, starting all this,
10:44you're going to get the hang of it really fast because how it's laid out, I don't know
10:48about you guys, but it's super pleasing to me because even though I'm a artist and a
10:53creator and this is my full time job, I still don't know everything.
10:57So having something that's like easily accessible is really important to me and be able to like
11:04just have everything there.
11:05So if I need to generate a QR code, make an Instagram story, a flyer, make a presentation,
11:13animate characters, or even like make a PDF file.
11:18It's all in Adobe.
11:20It's all integrated.
11:22I promise you that I really don't use any other app because it's so useful and helpful
11:28just to have everything right here.
11:30I think I've said that about thousands of times.
11:31So if you didn't get the point, it has everything all right here, which I really love.
11:38So if you haven't tried it already, try Adobe Express.
11:41It's free.
11:42It's linked in my profile.
11:43If you don't know how to get to it, if you have any questions about Adobe Express and
11:48how to use something, please comment below.
11:50I will reply with the answers to your comments because even though I have a lot of followers
11:56on YouTube, I don't get a lot of views on my, I don't get too many comments on my long
12:02form videos.
12:02So I'll be able to reply to all of them.
12:04So any questions you have, go ahead and answer.
12:07If you haven't subscribed yet, go ahead and subscribe here.
12:10If you're looking for other tutorials, check out my other tutorials or even Adobe Express's
