00:00Portis, s'il vous plait.
00:30Monsieur le Premier Ministre, chère Marthe.
00:46We both stand for sovereignty and security, demonstrated by our unwavering support for
00:55Ukraine under your leadership.
00:58Today, as we see these principles being rejected by more and more governments around the world,
01:07it is more important than ever for Canada to strengthen its ties with our trustworthy
01:14allies, such as France.
01:17With you, Mr. President, I want to ensure that France and the whole of Europe
01:28works enthusiastically with Canada, the most European of non-European countries,
01:37determined like you to maintain the most positive possible relations with the United States.
01:44Canada is a reliable, trustworthy, and strong partner of France, which shares our values
01:52and lives them through action during this age of economic and geopolitical crises.
02:22We also believe that freedom of expression, so dear to our countries, is something other
02:29than the detachment from hatred, violence, online harassment, or opaque algorithms.
02:37This is why your G7 presidency in 2025 must allow us to affirm our determination to move
02:47forward on each of these points and to defend together, at the heart, a just international
02:56order, that is, something that is neither the strongest law nor isolationism.
03:01And that is why we are fighting.
03:06Thank you very much.
