00:00New Lower Bicutan in Taguig is on fire because of a junk shop there. Live from Taguig, we have the first news, EJ Gomez. EJ?
00:18Susan, a junk shop here in New Lower Bicutan in Taguig City was burned earlier this morning at 2 o'clock.
00:25Residents living around the burned facility are evacuating one by one.
00:34The residents of New Lower Bicutan in Taguig City woke up to a blazing fire earlier this morning at 2 o'clock.
00:42A junk shop in MRT Avenue, Purok 1 was on fire.
00:46The BFP declared the first alarm on fire and immediately raised the third alarm at 2.41 a.m.
00:52This means that Rumi's Pundi needs not less than 12 firetrucks.
00:57Two 10-wheeler trucks were also burned.
01:00As well as some other heavy equipment.
01:02The fire quickly spread because of the piles of cardboard and plastic inside the junk shop according to the barangay.
01:08All the junk from the junk shop were dumped there.
01:14This is a big junk shop.
01:17It's been here for a long time, since 2013.
01:20It just happened today.
01:22Residents living around the facility are evacuating one by one.
01:26The neighbors shouted, so we went outside.
01:32The fire was very bright.
01:34It was only through a wall.
01:36It was a trauma, ma'am.
01:38All the equipment was burned.
01:40Some firefighters had to use self-contained breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire because of the thick smoke.
01:52Susana, according to the initial estimate of the owner of this junk shop,
01:57because of the piles of trucks and other heavy equipment,
02:01the cost of the fire was not less than P40 million.
02:05And from where we are standing,
02:07you can see the piles of cardboard and plastic.
02:11And in front of us are some of the heavy equipment that was also burned.
02:16Earlier at 5.21am, the BFP declared the fire under control.
