00:00Do you remember when you learned that your father murdered Jeffrey Dahmer?
00:04Yes. It was about 10, I saw it on TV.
00:10Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the most chilling instances
00:14of convicted murderers who reverted to their old ways while locked up behind bars.
00:19Schaefer carries to the grave confessions, maybe where the bodies were.
00:26Robert O'Neill
00:28In February 1980, Robert O'Neill was sentenced to life in prison for murdering 78-year-old
00:33Ralph Roscoe Sherrick. The previous year, O'Neill had broken into the home of Sherrick's son-in-law,
00:39where he encountered and fatally shot him after robbing the house.
00:42While serving his sentence at the Missouri State Penitentiary,
00:45O'Neill joined the white supremacist group the Aryan Brotherhood.
00:48His disruptive behavior in prison led to him being locked up in a special unit
00:52reserved for the most dangerous inmates. On February 3, 1984, he and two other prisoners
00:58attacked Arthur Dade, a black man serving time for armed robbery, and O'Neill fatally stabbed
01:03him with a homemade ice pick. He was ultimately convicted of capital murder for the attack,
01:07and executed by lethal injection.
01:10Wyatt Busby
01:11Busby is seven years into a 50-year sentence for murder,
01:15and has a lengthy history of violent convictions.
01:17Wyatt Busby was convicted of murder for the fatal stabbing of a man in Houston,
01:21Texas back in 2016. He received a 50-year sentence, and was serving his term at the
01:26Coffield Unit in Texas. While there, Busby shared a cell with suspected serial killer
01:31Billy Shamirmeier. Between 2016 and 2018, Shamirmeier allegedly murdered at least
01:3618 women in Dallas, and was convicted of two of those killings.
01:40It took years to uncover the murders, because the deaths were not considered
01:44suspicious at the time due to the age of the victims.
01:47On September 19, 2023, the two cellmates got into a verbal confrontation, which escalated
01:53into a physical altercation after Shamirmeier reportedly made inappropriate comments about
01:58Busby's children. Prison guards were seemingly slow to intervene, allowing the situation to
02:03spiral out of control. By the time the two men were separated, Busby had killed Shamirmeier.
02:08Those who wanted justice for their loved ones don't feel sorry for the convicted serial killer.
02:13Sunil Rati
02:15Indian gangster Sunil Rati stumbled into a life of crime after his father's murder in 1999.
02:20Three people were accused of the killing, and within six months, Rati had tracked down and
02:25killed two of them, brothers Mehak and Mohkam Singh. These acts of retaliation landed him in
02:30prison for life. In 2018, Rati was transferred to the Baghpat District Jail after claiming his
02:35life was at risk at the previous facility. At Baghpat, he crossed paths with Munna Bajrangi,
02:41an infamous gang leader and contract killer with political ties. Bajrangi had reportedly made
02:46denigrating comments about Rati's appearance, which angered him. As a result, Rati fatally
02:51shot Bajrangi on July 9, 2018, using a gun he had smuggled into the jail.
02:57Kevin Robey
02:58If you watched the early films of director John Singleton, you might recognize actor
03:02Lloyd Avery II, who played gangsters in Boys in the Hood and Poetic Justice.
03:14The line between fiction and reality soon blurred as Avery became a real-life criminal,
03:19and received a life sentence in 2001 for a double homicide. Behind bars, Avery shared a cell with
03:24Kevin Robey, who was also serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting and murdering his sister.
03:29While Avery appeared to embrace a new path in prison, becoming a born-again Christian,
03:34Robey turned to Satanism. On September 4, 2005, Robey murdered Avery in what he claimed was a
03:40satanic ritual. Shockingly, prison guards did not discover Avery's body until two days later.
03:46Joseph Druce
03:47Reverend John Gagin was a central figure in the Catholic Church's sexual misconduct scandal in
03:52Boston. Gagin was accused of inappropriate conduct with nearly 150 youths over a 30-year period.
03:58Ultimately, he was convicted of indecent assault and battery, and sentenced to 9 to 10 years behind
04:04bars. In prison, Gagin met Joseph Druce, a fellow inmate serving a life sentence for murdering a
04:16man who allegedly made unwanted sexual advances at him. Druce was reportedly a victim of sexual
04:21misconduct in his childhood, and was said to be outraged by Gagin's apparent lack of remorse.
04:26On August 23, 2003, Druce attacked and killed Gagin in his cell.
04:35Although he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, Druce was ultimately convicted
04:40of first-degree murder. Jimmy Mack
04:50The death row section of prisons holds some of the most dangerous individuals in existence.
04:54In 1999, Donald Leroy Evans and Jimmy Mack were among those housed on death row at Mississippi
05:00State Penitentiary. Evans was a notorious serial killer who is believed to have claimed up to 70
05:10victims, although the exact number remains unknown. He was sentenced to death in 1993 for
05:15the sexual assault and murder of a minor. Evans has killed 72 people during the 1970s and 80s.
05:21He even led the FBI on a two-day search for bodies in the Arizona desert, but they found
05:26nothing. Mack, on the other hand, landed on death row for the 1990 murder of a man in Bolivar County,
05:31Mississippi. In January 1999, Mack attacked Evans with a shank, fatally stabbing him while he was
05:37leaving the shower area. He was convicted of manslaughter and received an additional 20 years
05:41to his sentence. Victor Castigador Dubbed the Killer from Manila, Victor Castigador was imprisoned
05:48in 1989 for the murders of two security guards in London. The crime, infamously referred to as the
05:54Human Torch Murders, earned Castigador a whole life sentence, essentially ensuring he would never
05:59be released. Among his fellow inmates at Long Larton Prison was Sidonio Teixeira, who was also
06:04serving a whole life sentence for killing his daughter and attempting to murder his son.
06:08While little is known about their relationship in prison, things came to a head in June 2016
06:13when Castigador fatally attacked Teixeira with a rock inside a sock during a workshop. Castigador
06:19was handed another whole life sentence and transferred to a top security prison, where he
06:23died in March 2017. Vincent Faustino Rivera The murders that took Vincent Faustino Rivera to
06:30prison occurred in Tampa, Florida in 1990. Rivera was convicted of killing two people just 10 days
06:36apart and sentenced to life at the Florida State Prison. Also incarcerated there was Gerard John
06:41otherwise known as the Killer Cop.
06:51A former sheriff's deputy, Schaeffer gained notoriety in the early 70s for the murder of
06:55two girls. Although he became a prime suspect in over 20 additional killings, he was only convicted
07:01of those two. In 1995, Rivera and Schaeffer reportedly argued over a cup of hot water,
07:07which resulted in Rivera fatally stabbing Schaeffer in his cell.
07:11However, rumors suggest that the murder was likely a targeted hit due to Schaeffer's reputation as a prison informant.
07:26In 1988, Rigoberto Sanchez Velasco stood trial for the murder of his girlfriend's
07:31daughter two years earlier. He had confessed to the crime shortly after it occurred,
07:35only to later recant. Nevertheless, he was found guilty and sentenced to death.
07:39But Sanchez Velasco never seemed to change his ways, even as he sat on death row. In 1995,
07:46he and another prisoner, Mario Lara, attacked two fellow death row inmates,
07:50Edwin B. Caprat III and Charles Street in the yard, in full view of prison guards and other
07:55witnesses. Both men later succumbed to their injuries. This violent act earned Sanchez
08:00Velasco two additional 15-year sentences. In October 2002, he was executed by lethal
08:06injection for his initial crime. Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

08:25Do you remember when you learned that your father murdered Jeffrey Dahmer?
08:30Yes. It was about 10, I saw it on TV.
08:36One of the most notorious serial killers in history was Jeffrey Dahmer,
08:39who claimed 17 victims over a 13-year period and was sentenced to 16 life terms.
08:45People tried to understand how this could have happened in their midst.
08:49How did Jeffrey Dahmer get away with murder after murder for 13 years?
08:54Dahmer was imprisoned at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin,
08:58which also housed Christopher Scarver. Scarver was serving a life sentence for the 1990 murder
09:03of a man during an armed robbery. Dahmer and Scarver worked together in the prison gymnasium
09:08alongside Jesse Anderson, who was convicted of murdering his wife. While cleaning the gym on
09:13November 28, 1994, all three got into a heated argument that culminated in Scarver killing both
09:19Dahmer and Anderson with a metal bar. He received two more life sentences for these murders and was
09:24subsequently placed in solitary confinement. What other killers never changed their spots
09:29even behind bars? Let us know in the comments below.
09:31And I mean, so, so be it.
