00:00You are not deceived, yes that is the Hawthorne, it's made of Lego.
00:03It's that time of year, poor Black Country Brick Show.
00:05How you doing?
00:06I'm all right kid, you okay?
00:07Yeah good thanks.
00:08So we've got you and your lovely daughter Tilly.
00:10Yeah.
00:11And Tilly's made a special number 5.
00:14Why have you made a number 5 Tilly?
00:16Because it's Black Country Brick Show's 5th anniversary.
00:215th birthday, fantastic.
00:225th show isn't it, yeah so it's our 5th show so yeah.
00:255th show, cool.
00:26So go on, for people that don't know about it,
00:28what is the Black Country Brick Show for?
00:30Well do you want to tell me to do it?
00:33Okay, so we're a Lego fan event all for charity
00:38and two amazing charities Birmingham Children's Hospital and Fairy Bricks as well.
00:42And the idea is it's a Lego fan event where there's going to be displays,
00:45sellers, games, characters, loads of cool stuff as well.
00:48We've even got Lego Robot Wars back as well for this year,
00:51which sounds as carnage as it is.
00:53And it's all about raising money for charity,
00:55offering a great fun community day out as well.
00:58It is isn't it, it's awesome, I mean I can vouch for that.
01:00I've took my, I think there were 11 of my lads last year
01:03and we had a great day out, my two boys.
01:05And is it the same venue?
01:06Yeah, same venue, so it's a Phoenix Collegiate Academy in West Brom,
01:10the 5th and 6th of April
01:11and you get your tickets on Eventbrite at the moment as well.
01:14We are selling fast, we sell out every year as well so please get them
01:17and to save your money, not only does it give you a fun great day out,
01:19it also goes to our two fantastic charities.
01:22And that isn't just a sales pitch guys, you do sell out don't you?
01:25We do sell out, yeah probably sell out.
01:27And for people that haven't been, talk us through some of the displays.
01:32They're like works of art aren't they?
01:33Yeah they are, so we've got master builders from across the UK and Europe as well.
01:37So one of our biggest ones this year is going to be the Burj Khalifa,
01:39which is the massive skyscraper in Dubai isn't it I think.
01:44These guys are coming over from Belgium
01:45to display over in the Black Country this year as well.
01:47It lights up, it's responsive to sound so that's a great one.
01:51We've got Lego towns, we've got flowers.
01:54What else have we got?
01:55We've got loads of cool train stuff as well this year as well.
01:58So yeah, loads of cool displays.
02:00We've got a massive micro city as well, a huge Ninjago city as well.
02:03So if your kids are into Ninjago, if you know what that is,
02:06they're absolutely going to love that and as I say it's a fantastic day out.
02:09And the makers are there with their displays aren't they for the most part?
02:13So you can have a chinwag to them.
02:14Yeah they'll talk to you, they'll ask any questions you've got to ask in terms of techniques
02:18or just how they've built it and how they've transported it.
02:22It's always a big one as well.
02:23Usually how many parts is also a ban of contention in terms of how many they've actually done it.
02:27But yeah, they're always happy to have a chat, inspire you as well and trust me,
02:31this one, we do Lego shows together don't we?
02:34And she comes back and she builds and she inspires her to build better and play better.
02:38Yeah and do you still have the little Lego pool so kids can have a little dab of a build?
02:42Yeah, brick pits as well, brick pits.
02:43We've got a lot more games this year as well so yeah.
02:46And also the Star Wars guys have had a show as well
02:48and I've got it on, well they've never had one before so I don't know.
02:51I've got it on good authority as well, we've got a Darth Vader coming this year as well.
02:54So it's really cool to see.
02:56And there's somewhere to grab a bite to eat and a drink as well isn't there?
02:59So you can really make a day of it can't you?
03:01Yeah, proper day of it.
03:03The event starts at 10 o'clock until 4.30 this year as well so we're going to be longer.
03:07But yeah, there's food there, there's cake stalls,
03:09the school food's there which is actually really really good.
03:13As I say, there's picnic areas, we've got buggy areas as well this year as well.
03:16It's on two floors, we've got lifts ready for access as well
03:19for disability and wheelchairs as well.
03:21So it really is an all-exclusive, a fully inclusive day I shall say.
03:25Awesome, no surprises for guessing who you support.
03:30Well there will be a Molyneux there for balance as well, I promise you.
03:35Right, cheers guys, thank you Paul and thank you Tilly.
