00:00Good evening, Kapuso! I am your Kuya Kim and I will give you trivia behind the trending news.
00:10Do you have a plan for this weekend? Don't just draw, let's color it!
00:15Let's join a group in Makati that gathers every weekend to do watercolor painting.
00:23With so many problems at work, at home, and even on the streets, how do you de-stress?
00:29We met this group that meets every weekend in cafes in Makati to paint.
00:34This is the Weekend Watercolor Circle established by architect Vergel.
00:38Every weekend, we gather just to relax, have fun, and to do watercolor.
00:43A platform or a space for us to connect, that's the essence of our community.
00:48Even newbies in painting, they are welcome to join them.
00:51Navee will teach you and her fellow watercolor artists the basic watercolor techniques.
00:56Mainly, we do kind of workshop, but more on jamming type of workshop.
01:00So, it's not just a tip-toed or technical workshop.
01:03It's fun because the motivation of the joiners are different.
01:06Some just want to relax after a very tiring week.
01:09Others just want to forget and move on.
01:12Navee's passion project just started, and now, she has more than 1,000 joiners or members.
01:17Choy is a nurse in the painting that helps her overcome her stress at work.
01:21It provides comfort or a different channel for us to express our creativity.
01:26Because some of us feel discreated.
01:28I have a passion to do art or pursue some things other than what I do.
01:33I feel recharged every after session.
01:35If there are people who want to join, we have a page on Instagram.
01:38They can just DM us. Everyone's welcome.
01:40If we have a hobby, we're in the present moment.
01:43That's why we reduce overthinking and rumination.
01:46This is important because hobbies calm the mind.
01:50Let's make sure that hobbies are not just to pass the time.
01:53This is also a psychological tool to restore the balance of mind and feelings.
02:01Painting using water and pigment started in ancient times.
02:04In the Paleolithic Era in Europe, natural pigment was used to paint caves.
02:08Ancient Egyptians used watercolors in their manuscripts.
02:12While the Chinese used it in painting and calligraphy.
02:15The watercolor that we are used to today was developed in the 19th century.
02:19It's a mixture of four ingredients.
02:21Pigment that gives color.
02:23Gum Arabic that acts as a binder.
02:25Additives to change the consistency, color, and lifespan.
02:28And of course, water.
02:29But do you know what was used to paint the so-called oldest painting in history?
02:39This is the cave painting discovered in 2017 in Leang Karampuang Limestone Cave in Indonesia.
02:45The image of a pig in the mud is surrounded by three people who are not less than 51,200 years old.
02:53This is why it is considered the oldest painting in the world.
02:56What was used to paint this is pinulbong ochre or earth pigment mixed with water.
03:02Meanwhile, to find out the trivia behind the viral news, tweet or just comment.
03:06Hashtag Kuya Kim, what's next?
