After meeting at a mutual friend’s wedding in Mexico, Ariana Madix and boyfriend Daniel Wai took their budding romance to Coachella where they were seen packing on the PDA in April 2023. By May 2023, a source told PEOPLE that Madix was already "falling in love" with Wai. “He's taught me that the things that I perceive as imperfections or flaws are non-existent to him,” she says with a smile. “There’s things that I’ll say like, ‘I hate this about myself, I hate that about myself,’ and without him ever hearing me say that, or him even knowing, he’ll be like, ‘Man, I love this about you.’”

00:00I think he's really really smart. I think he's super kind. He somehow will say he thinks I'm really
00:08Empathetic and he thinks that I'm the nice one
00:10I'm always like no you are the nice like you are so kind and he's like he I don't know
00:16I don't know why he doesn't claim that for himself, but he's somebody who he's always happy to see me
00:21I love the energy that he has. I just think he's like the most beautiful person
00:26I think he has the most beautiful smile I've ever seen and
00:29He really like I don't want to say this about him because I feel like it's a bad omen for like any true crime
00:34Watchers out there, but like he lights up
00:38Because you normally you don't want to say that about somebody in a true crime documentary, but he is a light.
00:45I think he's taught me that things that I perceive of as imperfections or flaws are
00:51Are like not non-existent to him. So
00:55You know, there's things that I'll say I hate this about myself. I hate that about myself and you know without
01:02him ever hearing me say that or him even knowing like he would be like
01:06man, I love this about you and it's something that I always thought of as like
01:12something was wrong and so I think he's taught me that not to focus on those things because
01:17Someone who loves you is doesn't even see that and if they do see it, they think it's amazing about you
01:25I
01:27Would say the challenge in the beginning was that we were you know, we were getting to know each other obviously via FaceTime
01:34And on the phone, but then I was able to go to New York a lot for work initially
01:40and so
01:41Being able to be in New York for work allowed us to be able to just have fun and hang out and get to know each
01:46Other and so obviously distance is always I think a challenge, but it also forced us to get to know each other on a much deeper level
01:53I think than I had in you know, any previous relationship where we would just be together all the time
01:59it was just different to be able to
02:02really have to focus on communication and
02:05be on the phone for hours and hours and like asking each other all kinds of questions and really like getting to know who we
02:11Each other was as people
