00:00So, my name is Dean Boswell and I've lived in Cosham all my life and I'm the owner of
00:09the Drayton Tavern now, but before that I was always in and out of jobs, didn't really
00:15have a career or anything like that and it wasn't until they closed up a local pub around
00:24here called The Manor and there wasn't anywhere really in the area to go and then essentially
00:31me and my dad were out one day and we were talking about it and I said what would be
00:36great would be if we had something like that in the Drayton Cosham area, like somewhere
00:42like this where you could go in and get craft beers, real ales and I ended up losing sleep
00:48over it and that was it really, the rest is history.
00:52It's the second week here and we opened Saturday the 1st of March when we opened, so yeah.
01:00What's the reaction been like as soon as you opened those doors?
01:03It's all been positive, yeah, it's all been pretty positive to be honest with you, yeah
01:08I think there's still some teething problems but we're getting through it and there's a
01:14couple of other micro pubs around, well in Portsmouth and near Portsmouth, so you've
01:23got the Brewers Tap down South Sea, the West Street Ale House in Fairham, the Portcullis
01:29in Portchester, they've all got that same kind of model essentially where they take
01:36a shop front and make it into a micro pub and it's a no-brainer really, I think it's
01:43also a great way to get people back in the high street and it's just creating a nice
01:57environment for people, if they're with children or if they're with dogs, they're more than
02:07welcome to come in and just chill out, talk to other people, socialise, yeah and just
02:14kind of bring in a nice environment, so obviously accompanied by an adult and the children and
02:21they can't drink, same as dogs, but yeah, just kind of creating a community essentially.
02:32I'm just going with the flow really, seeing how it progresses and then maybe see where
02:41I am in five years and yeah, take the next steps and yeah, see where it goes from there.
