Monmouth Town reaction to 8-0 win over Sifil FC

00:00Right, so that was a comfortable win in the end. How do you sum up the team's performance today?

00:04I'm obviously really happy, obviously 8-0, lots of goals, a clean sheet, you can't really ask for much more.

00:10We started, I think we scored a goal after 17 seconds or something like that, so we obviously started well

00:16and as soon as we got our second and third goal you could see that the confidence from Sidwell had drained a little bit

00:22followed by the man being sent off, so it made it a little bit of an easier day than we anticipated

00:27but obviously really, really happy. Some really good performances, there were some things we wanted to work on from last week

00:33that we didn't think we did great, which I think we improved on today. It's hard to really know how much that will work

00:38considering we didn't have as big a test as we possibly could have had. Yeah, really happy, obviously Ash getting the four goals

00:45we looked at making sure we were keeping the line really high, which we did last week

00:49and obviously with Jack and Rob's pace we were able to do that. Yeah, really happy, really happy.

00:55What's your understanding of that performance out there today?

00:57Ash obviously, four goals. I thought his own round play was actually really good, Ash.

01:03I thought both full-backs started the first half really well, Luke got a lot of involvement

01:08which was something we asked him to do a bit more this week, was get involved going forward

01:12so he was really good. Obviously everyone's had a decent game, we've won 8-0, but yeah, probably Ash scoring four goals

01:20and it was nice to see the Lewis, Craig Lewis and Jake Lewis obviously get on the pitch together for the first time

01:26so that was a special moment as well.

01:28And just looking ahead to the next game, what do you expect from that?

01:32Oh, a really tough game. Abertynary, Excelsior's were possibly one of the best sides, if not the best side we've played this season

01:39in my opinion. They press really hard, they're fit. When they weren't available they're a really, really tough opposition

01:45so I certainly expect it to be a lot tougher than it was today. But yeah, the way we're playing and the players we've got

01:52players coming back, Josh Maxson eventually came back today, we've got Robbie Atkinson available next week I think

01:57so, George Goldengate again will be available next week so we're looking really strong

02:01but obviously we've got to keep performing how we are if we're going to keep this run going.

02:04Right, so how do you think you performed today?

02:06Me personally, I think I've done alright this whole of the second half. I don't think there was a lot for me to do

02:14just more reading the game and making sure our line was high and just keep pushing everyone on

02:19but other than that I didn't really have much to do when I came on.

02:22How do you think the team performed?

02:24Really good, yeah. I think we limited them to very, very small chances and they didn't have a lot when we had the ball

02:31we obviously had an early send-off which did probably help us and hurt them but I think team performance-wise

02:37everyone gave a good 7-8 if not 9 out of 10.

02:41Just looking at the next game, what do you expect from that game?

02:44It'll be tough, yeah, it'll be real tough. We played already this year, a big battle.

02:49They are a good team, they're very quick with their play but once again I think we limited them to as little chances as we can

02:56I think we'll go on and beat them.
