00:16That's former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh who is now an Executive Director at
00:20Leelavati Hospital alleging black magic inside the premises of the hospital, this room to
00:25be precise.
00:26What's going on at the Leelavati Hospital?
00:28Let me get you up to speed.
00:52That's Prashant Mehta, a permanent trustee of Mumbai's premier Leelavati Hospital and
00:57a renowned institution established by his parents Kishore and Charu Mehta in 1978.
01:02After assuming his trustee role in 2023, he initiated financial audits that uncovered
01:06massive discrepancies.
01:07It came to notice that more than 1250 crores was siphoned off for the purpose of purchases
01:19for the hospital and these purchases were not done through the regular channel of the
01:25In March 2025, the trust filed an embezzlement case alleging that over 1250 crore rupees
01:31was siphoned through fraudulent orders, bogus purchases and offshore accounts.
01:36Multiple FIRs were lodged, forensic audits uncovered large-scale fraud and bizarrely
01:41black magic rituals were allegedly conducted on site.
01:45So the ex-employees of the trust came to the trustees and they informed us that some black
01:52magic practices have been performed in the court.
01:55In the premises of the hospital, especially in the office where Mr. Prashant Mehta and
02:01his mother Mrs. Charu Mehta used to sit.
02:05So on the basis of that information, in the presence of some witnesses, following the
02:11due process, the flooring of the room was dug up and eight urns containing human remains,
02:24rice and other articles which are used for black magic were found in that room.
02:30Back in July 2024, trustee Prashant Mehta had already accused seven board members of
02:35misappropriating 11.5 crore rupees.
02:38By May 2024, he alleged that 500 crore rupees was siphoned off for personal disputes and
02:43real estate deals.
02:44As of now, we have requested the Enforcement Directorate and hope proceedings under PMLA
02:51are initiated by the Enforcement Directorate.
02:54After FIRs were filed, the case was transferred to the Economic Offences Wing, which is now
02:59investigating.
03:00But financial mismanagement isn't the only thing haunting Leelavati.
03:03The Mehta family itself has been embroiled in a decades-long past struggle over control
03:08of the hospital.
03:09In 1995, a resolution had appointed Vijay Mehta, Prashant's uncle, as a permanent trustee.
03:14But Prashant's father Kishore Mehta challenged this.
03:17In the year around 2000-2006, one Mr Vijay Mehta, in collusion with certain ex-trustees
03:28led by Mr Chetan Mehta, Niket Mehta and others, forged signatures of my father and mother
03:35to appoint themselves as permanent trustees.
03:39As for Parambir Singh, he's no stranger to controversy either.
03:42Removed as Mumbai's Police Commissioner after the 2021 Antilla bomb scare, he later accused
03:47Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extortion but ended up facing corruption allegations
03:52himself.
03:53Singh retired from IPS in 2022, with some cases against him dropped and others still
03:58under investigation.
03:59A high-profile hospital, a decades-long family feud, a massive financial scandal and now
04:05allegations of black magic.
04:07What's next in the Leelavati hospital saga?
