00:00Hi guys, welcome back to the vlog to home in Hawaii episode 2.
00:19Hopefully you can hear the beautiful rain that's happening outside right now.
00:24It was literally so sunny, blue skies like five minutes ago, but I feel like that is
00:28so typical, especially winter here is so like that where one day it'll be perfect and the
00:34next day it'll be storming or even within the same day, like the weather will just change.
00:38Welcome back to the vlog.
00:39If you're new here.
00:40Hi, my name is Ava.
00:41I'm 24.
00:42I grew up here on Oahu and now I'm a homeowner here, which is crazy.
00:47And actually in this video, we have a lot of fun, exciting home things going on.
00:51I'm really excited because for the longest time I was feeling really unmotivated with
00:55the doing house projects and stuff.
00:56And so we kind of put a halt on everything.
00:58I feel like if you've ever moved, you know that you have maybe two weeks to a month to
01:03pour everything into moving, into getting your space the way you want it.
01:06And then I feel like you just hit this wall where you're like, I can't do anything else.
01:10So it's honestly been maybe eight or seven or eight months since we've like actually
01:16done house projects here, but I actually already have a few things to share with you.
01:20First thing, I finally added a curtain to my room, which I feel like it needed so fricking
01:26badly because everything is so, I don't even know how to explain it, but stiff.
01:31And I didn't realize this room was so stiff until we added the curtains and I feel like
01:35it just softens the space so much.
01:38And I also feel like because of the height that we put the curtain rod, which my dad
01:42hung for me, so nice.
01:45It just adds a lot of height to the room, which is really nice.
01:47And then we did some stuff out in the patio, which I'm really excited about because obviously
01:51with spring and summer coming, I want it to be a space where I just love the way it's
01:55decorated, where we want to like hang out and spend a lot of time.
01:58So I'll show you what we did.
02:00Actually I filmed it, so you'll see here, but we basically built this little cabinet
02:04to store all of our grill stuff is basically just really messy before.
02:08And then we also added a little area rug, which is really, really cute.
02:11So those are the patio updates.
02:12I still really want to paint this wall green.
02:15I've been talking about it for so long and I just haven't done it yet.
02:18I do have the paint.
02:19I bought the paint, so I just need to do it, but I feel like once I paint it, I'm going
02:23to like it a lot more.
02:24The red just really throws me off.
02:26Eventually too, I would love to finish this cement just because clearly it's unfinished.
02:29I think it'd be really nice to finish it with like a tile or something.
02:33I think that would just make the space look a lot nicer, but it's coming together.
02:36The backyard is growing.
02:37I don't know if you guys saw my Instagram, but we literally hand plugged every single
02:41little patch of grass.
02:43You see my family, Micah's family, we put in so many hours into getting the grass done
02:48and it's growing in.
02:49It looks great.

02:55We're out and about again.
02:56I'm with Micah.
02:57We're wearing matching clothes this time, which is not something we do often.
03:00I swear we're not like, let's match.
03:02I do have to color coordinate.
03:03Anyway, we're wearing our matching Aloha wear because we're going to an event today for
03:07Fighting Eel, which is a local brand here, which I'm so excited about one because obviously
03:11love them and it's so cool.
03:12I feel like there's never opportunities as much here as in like LA or New York to do
03:18events like this.
03:19So they invited us.
03:20They're opening a store here in Manoa, which is a town here that I just love so much.
03:25It's so green.
03:26You can't see.
03:27Lush, beautiful.
03:28There's some really, really beautiful older homes in this area, but yeah, they're opening
03:31up a new store here and we're getting to go shop around and they're kind of hosting like
03:36a little welcoming event, I guess you could say.
03:38So I'm really excited.
03:39I'll show you a better overview of my outfit in a little bit, but got on all my favorite
03:43local brands, Fighting Eel, my favorite Hawaiian jewelry from Yay Hawaii, super cute ring from
03:49them too.
03:50Just a Tahitian pearl.
03:51So we got on all the goodies and yeah, it's going to be a really fun morning.
03:53I'm super excited.
03:54I don't really do stuff like this often, so it'll be really fun.
04:20We just finished at the event.
04:23We're having a little town moment.
04:24I always say this, but like, if you're going to come to town from where we live all the
04:28way over there, we're going to make a day out of it.
04:29So we're getting our favorite sandwich.

04:34It's a sandwich shop in, what is this area, Wailai, I think.

04:38Yeah, but I think, listen, I don't really know where I am, but it's in town, which is
04:46like so broad, but yeah, it's really good sandwiches.
04:49So we ordered that, but the event was so fun.
04:51We'll do a little haul when we get back home of what we got from Fighting Eel because Micah
04:54got something so exciting.
04:58Fluencer boyfriend, and I got two things.
05:02I'm very excited about it.
05:03And they also took us to this local chocolatier business, which was really cool.

05:14They took us like behind the scenes of how they make their stuff.

05:56But I guess when your freaking captain is watching these videos, it's like, oh my god.

06:00They're going to be like, why is your captain watching your girlfriend's YouTube videos?
06:05At Micah's old station in Maui, one night they listened to our podcast and you just
06:10walked into the...
06:11What happened?
06:13If you know the fire service, making fun of the new guy is part of being the new guy.
06:19Anything that you can find to make fun of someone is used to make fun of you.
06:24When I was in Maui, of course everyone knows who Ava is.
06:27Everyone's girlfriend's daughter is a watcher, so they knew me as the influencer's boyfriend,
06:33so they were actually going to buy Ava's merch and wear it on my first day.
06:38Okay, but they shouldn't.
06:39And then on the station PA, they played the podcast that I was on with Ava, and of course
06:45everyone's making fun of me.
06:47And it's all lighthearted, but they played every YouTube video that I was in, they played
06:52on the TV in the day room.
06:55So, I don't know.
06:58It's just a little different now, I guess.
07:00And then there's been many times where my superiors in the service will be like, my
07:04daughter watches your girlfriend's YouTube videos.
07:06You're that guy.
07:07Hey, girls.

08:30I saw someone on TikTok literally give the most insane organizing hack for, like, swimsuits
08:36and stuff.
08:37Because obviously this would just be heinous to dig through.
08:39But basically, you tie your swimsuits together.
08:43So you just take the clasp and then put it around the matching bottom.
08:46Especially if you like to wear matching sets a lot, which I do.
08:49I hardly ever wear things mismatched.
08:51So if I see something, I know that the matching bottom's attached to it.
08:55And I wish I could remember who I learned this from.
08:58But I thought it was genuinely one of the most genius things ever.
09:02I think I'm gonna wear this purple one today.
09:06It's from Alkai Swim.
09:08It's two of my friends.
09:10They're sisters, Sally and Tina.
09:12It's their brand.

09:16But this swimsuit's really cute.

10:13Which is honestly kind of like Hawaii's version of Chipotle.
10:16Because we don't have that here.
10:17But it's honestly kind of like the same concept.
10:19I get the bowl with white cilantro rice, romaine, chicken, red onion,
10:25lime, guac.
10:26Honestly just so much good stuff.
10:28And it's delicious.
10:30I crave this so often.
10:32It is so freaking good.
10:34I love coming here.
10:36They have one in Kailua and Kahala Mall, I think.
10:40I don't know if there's anywhere else.
10:41And then Kapolei, obviously.

11:57I ended up getting this romper.
11:59Which is honestly a little out of my comfort zone, color wise.
12:02But I feel like it's just so fun.

12:05I really like the way it fit.
12:06So I'm excited to have this.
12:08And they also gifted us this beach mat.
12:10Which the print is so cute.
12:12It would be perfect for picnics, sitting on the beach.

13:16So I got this cute sideboard kind of thing.

13:24But a cabinet.
13:26I got a cabinet to go right in this area.
13:28And I think it's going to be really cute.
13:41It has been so long since I've built something.
13:43Honestly, since we moved in.
13:45We moved in almost a year ago, which is crazy.
13:47But imagine that.
13:49You just follow the directions and apply yourself.
