00:00Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is arriving in The Hague on Wednesday to face
00:07charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court.
00:12He was arrested in Manila a day earlier on orders of the ICC, which has been investigating
00:17the mass killings linked to the former president's deadly crackdown on drugs.
00:22Both protesters and supporters of Duterte gathered in front of the ICC in The Hague
00:26ahead of his arrival.
00:28We're in remembering the time during his administration that basically gave a blanket immunity and
00:34encouraged this culture of terror for anyone who was suspected as a drug user and there
00:40was no due process at all.
00:43There were 30,000 people who were killed randomly without due process.
00:48Among them, more than 100 were children.
00:50Duterte will be held in a UN prison complex about two kilometers from the ICC.
00:56After he is taken into custody, he could challenge the court's jurisdiction and the
01:00admissibility of the case.
01:03While the Philippines is no longer a member of the ICC, the alleged crimes happened before
01:08Manila withdrew from the court.
