00:00Scarlett Johansson says she declined Universal Pictures' request to join Instagram to help
00:05promote her upcoming film, Jurassic World Rebirth.
00:11The actress is among the rare Hollywood A-listers who aren't on social media, and she wants
00:15to keep it that way.
00:17Johansson opened up about the pressure to join Instagram in InStyle's latest cover story.
00:21She told the magazine,
00:22"...I mean, even today I got an email from Universal Pictures and they're like, hey,
00:26would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth?
00:30I get a lot of pressure to join social media."
00:33When contemplating joining the social platform before, she said she's asked herself,
00:37"...is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am?
00:40It didn't feel like I could."
00:41However, Johansson does acknowledge the potential of social media from a business angle, having
00:46appeared on the Instagram feed of her skincare company, The Outset.
00:49She said,
00:50"...the work that I put out there is all based in truth.
00:53That's the key ingredient.
00:54So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon.
00:59But I'm not, and I think the film will do fine."
01:01Johansson will star in Jurassic World Rebirth alongside Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey.
01:07The film takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, in its
01:11theaters on July 2, 2025.
