00:00Members the Parliament from Tamil Nadu are wearing black shirt protesting as expected
00:05Against the national education policy DMK MPs are protesting in black shirts outside Parliament remember
00:11They've been up in arms over the new education or the national education policy
00:17Against the BJP led central government they've been facing off for days and weeks together the DMK has in fact been leading this charge
00:24Over the three language policy which they say is imposition of Hindi on the state of Tamil Nadu
00:30It will not be tolerated the government has in fact reached out to the DMK and explained how this is not the imposition of Hindi
00:37However, the DMK is unrelenting in their protest the Parliament session is underway
00:42This is the second half of the budget session, which is underway and they continue to protest
00:48They continue to be at loggerheads
00:50After heated debates remember yesterday also the education monthly was in fact in the
00:57Parliament and he made a clarification. However, the DMK continues with the same
01:03Protesting against the BJP led central government and also taking the education minister that means the Pradhan head on the DMK
01:12Has in fact lodged this matter
01:15With Parliament as well with notices being issued as well DMK's MP
01:20Karimodi has issued a notice
01:23Has submitted a notice rather?
01:25The other opposition MPs also who find the national education policy as a violation to the federal structure
01:32And see it as imposition of Hindi in non Hindi speaking states
01:37Will be joining in in this protest at this point in time. We have DMK MPs who are wearing black and
01:46protesting
01:50The
01:57DMK MP Karimodi has also filed a notice for breach of parliamentary privilege against the union education minister
02:03That means the Pradhan accusing him of not only misleading the samsad, but of insulting Tamil Nadu
02:10Earlier the education minister claimed the DMK government also took a u-turn on the NEP matter
02:15Claiming that they were toying with the future of students of Tamil Nadu
02:20The BJP slammed MK Stalin for doing politics over education of poor students in the state
02:32The heated face-off continues between the education monthly and the DMK
02:37DMK and opposition MPs are protesting right now as you see
02:41Against Dharmendra Pradhan. MP Karimodi had filed a notice of breach of parliamentary privilege
02:47Against the union education minister
02:49Accusing him of not only misleading the samsad, but of insulting Tamil Nadu
02:53Earlier the education minister claimed the DMK government took a u-turn on the NEP issue
02:58Claiming they were toying with the future of students from Tamil Nadu
03:02The BJP slams Stalin for doing politics over education of poor students in the state
03:07Education policy change is very very serious because this government is without consulting the state governments
03:18Without consulting the other academicians and also eminent personalities
03:23They are going to dilute the entire education system. They want to soften the education system
03:29That's why Tamil Nadu is opposed to this
03:31Tri-language system. That's why they are from the beginning, they are against the tri-language system
03:43That's why yesterday they raised the issue. Our party members also from Tamil Nadu support the issue
03:50It is unfortunate that a minister talking on the floor of the house that Tamil Nadu is an uncivilized
03:58It amounts that whole South India is uncivilized in his mind
04:04Only North Indians are civilized, South Indians are not civilized. This we totally condemn
04:10Why can't they give a discussion for 267? We are asking for a healthy discussion on delimitation
04:15It is nothing very sinful or unparliamentary or something
04:21We really want to know what is going to be the SOP, what the government is going to do
04:25Time and again we are afraid that our seats would be decreased and the North sides would be increased
04:33So they don't want to give a space for us to even discuss
04:38They just say the notices stands cancelled. For what reason? Nobody knows
04:43Delimitation can't be done overnight and delimitation will be done once censuses are over
04:50Nothing has been done now and the Prime Minister and Home Minister has assured that
04:54no injustice is done to any states. Having said so and the terms and conditions of the delimitations
05:01are very important in this. The terms and conditions of delimitation are not yet set
05:06So these people are crying foul unnecessarily. It is for their 26th election
05:13they are bringing this bogey. Whenever there is Tamil Nadu elections, language bogey and all
05:18such things, regional chauvinism will come forth. DMP survives and strives on that
05:24NEP is an insult to the states and the federal structure in many ways
05:31and it's another way of this authoritarian approach of the union government
05:36So we oppose many portions of the NEP and education is a subject which
05:42falls in the congruent list and this much of concentration cannot be allowed
05:47We are of the firm opinion that at any given circumstances, the seats of the states should
05:52not be reduced. Like in the state of Odisha, we have been representing the people of Odisha
05:58as a regional party, the Biju Janata Dal and we will not accept that the seats are in any way
06:04going to be reduced. Similarly, the concerns that other opposition parties have from southern part
06:09of Odisha is also very valid that seats should not reduce, representation should not reduce
06:16whatever comes. It was yesterday when union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan faced
06:23off in the sunsets with the DMK. Let's take a listen. They are not committed to Tamil Nadu students
06:29They are ruining the future of Tamil Nadu students. Their only job is to raise language passion
06:35They are doing politics. They are doing mischief. This is unfortunate in the federal state. They can't
06:42put allegation on the government of India. They are misleading the nation. They are doing injustice
06:48They are doing injustice to students of Tamil Nadu. They are ruining the future of Tamil
06:54Nadu students. They are not doing justice. They are undemocratic, uncivilized. They are debarring
07:01the right of Tamil Nadu students to have a pan-Indian education model. Very pained and
07:07hurt that the minister in his reply in parliament today has called the members of parliament,
07:14the Tamil Nadu government and the people of Tamil Nadu uncivilized. Minister from Tamil
07:19Nadu also was there in the delegation and we had clearly said that we have issues
07:25with the NEP. We cannot accept it in full because three-language policy is not acceptable to Tamil
07:32Nadu. The truth is the CM of Tamil Nadu has written to the minister and the prime minister
07:43saying that we cannot, we have issues with the NEP. It cannot be accepted in total.
07:52I'm going straight across to Amit Bhardwaj getting in more details on that story Amit.
07:57The fact is that there is no end to this as far as the face-off between the DMK and also the
08:04centre is concerned. Today the DMK MPs are protesting in parliament. These protests are
08:09going to be joined in by the other members of the opposition also, isn't it?
08:17All right Sneha, you know we have seen that one of the key points become the rallying point for
08:22the opposition parties in each of the parliamentary sessions and this time around it seems to be
08:27over the issue of delimitation and NEP, the three-language policy. Last week it was only
08:35last week when MK Stalin, the CM of Tamil Nadu started to bring all the ruling parties or all
08:43parties on board over this particular issue in Tamil Nadu and after that the call for joint
08:47action committee was also given by the DMK chief MK Stalin and what you have within a week's span
08:55is that while DMK is trying to approach the chief ministers of different states and trying to bring
09:02together the India bloc, they are also raising this particular issue of NEP and the three-language
09:07policy in the parliament. You had yesterday several of the DMK MPs raising their concern
09:12over the three-language policy and the acquisition of Hindi imposition in name of NEP. That's the
09:18allegation by the DMK and now Kanimooyi has also given that privilege notice against union
09:24education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and what we are given to understand today is that you have
09:28the DMK MPs who have already turned out in the parliament complex in black shirts in order to
09:35protest against the three-language policy or the NEP accusing that there is Hindi imposition.
09:42Moreover, the DMK MPs seemed igged because they believe that the union minister had misled the
09:50house and that is why privilege notice was in fact given out by DMK MP Kanimooyi. So,
09:55clearly this particular issue could become one of the major rallying points for the opposition
09:59with the India bloc as far as this parliamentary session is concerned.
