JP and BMitch react to the Commanders signing their first player of the legal tampering period, former Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.
Transcript
00:00I believe we've got some breaking news for the commanders.
00:06Former 49ers defensive lineman, versatile piece, six, five, three 20 Javon Kinlaw, actually
00:14born in DC for what it's worth, played his college ball at South Carolina.
00:21We'll sign with the Washington commanders.
00:23I'm seeing this first from rap sheet.
00:25I'm sure there's others out there that have it.
00:28Every year, 45 mil, 30 mil guarantee.
00:31So two years for 15 Kinlaw's an interior guy that can help you a lot.
00:39Played all 17 games, both of the last two seasons, um, four years in San Francisco out
00:46of Peters was there when he was drafted, he was a first rounder in the 2020 draft.
00:51Um, there you go.
00:53This is whatever happened last year.
00:56They kind of inherited some of their players and now they get to build the roster the way
01:00they want Javon Kinlaw per Ian Rappaport working to confirm that as fast as I can, uh, played
01:09all 17 games for the jets last year, four and a half sacks, 40 tackles, five TFLs.
01:16The jets team was really bad.
01:17So it's kind of kind of hard to take too much.
01:24I can confirm the Javon Kinlaw signing.
01:27Um, all right.
01:29That's your first big move of free agency.
01:31Obviously Debo was the first big move.
01:34That was a trade.
01:37Everybody said they got a beef up the middle six, five, three 20 that's beef six, five,
01:42three 20.
01:43Where's the beef?
01:44Yeah, for sure.
01:46Um, it's going to be interesting as we keep seeing this coming, uh, everybody that's been
01:51saying build up the lines, build up the lines.
01:53There's your first move right there.
01:55Javon Kinlaw from the jets last year, but Adam Peters was there when the Niners took
02:00him in the first round back in 2020, uh, clearly this is somebody Peter's targeted and wanted
02:06to bring to town.
02:08Let us know what you think.
02:09800-636-1067.
02:10I mean, keep these phone lines open all day.
02:14Jeffrey, what's your, what's your gut reaction to Kinlaw?
02:18I'm not mad at it.
02:19Uh, we, we needed to, uh, add some people to that.
02:21Well, let me just say this from the jump.
02:24I'm not mad or upset at any move that's made towards the offensive or defensive line.
02:32I am okay with it.
02:33Let's, you know, just keep going up, but I'm cool with the move, ready to see how it play
02:39out.
02:40How about you?
02:41Heavy metal.
02:42I like it.
02:43Sounds good.
02:44Um, I know for a lot of fans out there that not, Oh, that's not very sexy.
02:51Who cares?
02:53Those guys make the team work.
02:54Those big dudes.
02:56And if he could come in here and play like he's capable of playing and eat up some of
02:59those offensive linemen from getting to those linebackers, it works.
03:04Yeah, I think there's a lot that needs to happen.
03:09I think clearly they weren't good enough against the run.
03:12And I think this is a step towards putting together the type of group they want.
03:17If they're going to have their linebackers back, Ken law is a guy that helps them in
03:25what they view as being able to stop the run.
03:27I mean, you're giving them 15 mil per the reality of that deal is two years, 15 per
03:34that's that's real cash, dude.
03:36And so in turn, it's, it's going to be, you have high expectations for a player that you're
03:43going to pay $15 million, especially not to make it like a directly transactional thing.
03:50But if you are, if you're letting John Allen walk to bring in Ken law, now Ken law is a
03:58lot younger, which is worth pointing out.
04:01He's he'll he's 27, he'll turn 28 in October.
