French President Emmanuel Macron says the "the only imperial power I can see in Europe today is Russia," hitting back at Russian President Vladimir Putin over comments likening him to emperor Napolean Bonaparte. Speaking after a summit on Ukraine and European security, Macron says he and his country have "respect and friendship" for the United States and are "entitled to demand the same in return."

00:00The only imperial power that I see today in Europe is called Russia.
00:04And it is a revisionist imperialist of the history and identity of peoples.
00:10And our will is to be a power of peace and balance.
00:14Basically, everything we do, by the choices we make, including our armies, to avoid the war of tomorrow,
00:20are choices of peace.
00:22And so I think that President Putin should return to this vision.
00:28We are loyal and faithful allies.
00:31Anyone who doubts it should simply look at our contemporary history.
00:35It justifies what we have for the United States of America,
00:40what I have for these leaders, respect and friendship.
00:44And I think we have the right to claim the same thing.
00:47Because our history shows that we deserve it.
