Marcos bets campaign in Robredo bailiwick

In a bid to solidify support for the administration in the Bicol Region, the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' senatorial slate brings its campaign to Camarines Sur, a known stronghold of former vice president Leni Robredo, on March 7, 2025. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. courted residents to pick all 12 senatorial candidates, saying the administration-backed ticket is a 'dream team.' During the pre-rally press conference, Alyansa candidates push for the institutionalization of the government's Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), instead of creating other financial assistance schemes. The administration ticket also promised to do more to empower women ahead of the International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8. Camarines Sur, home to over 1.5 million voters, is among the 15 provinces where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. did not dominate in the last presidential elections. Based on the official canvass of Congress, Robredo garnered 89 percent of the vote in the province — 958,905 in contrast to Marcos’ 102,921.

00:00For the beautiful voice of all of you. Good afternoon, Bicol.
00:10Thank you very much to all of you.
00:12And you came here to our contingency rally to introduce our candidates for the Senate, for the upcoming election, for the Mayors.
00:30You know, when I join their marches, they tell me to campaign for them.
00:47You know, it's very easy for me to introduce our candidates for the Senate.
00:55Why? Because if you look at the lineup for the alliance for the Senate, if we look at them one by one, you will hear them speak.
01:10What I'm saying is, you know what I mean?
01:25That's why I'm telling you what I'm saying about, do not look at the political color of that area.
01:36All the more that you have to have to show them that this is Filipino.
01:49That's what it is.
01:54That's why when I was the Secretary, BPN went to my office.
02:00I read what I said.
02:02I explained it to the President.
02:04He said, this is not the right thing.
02:06That's right. That's what he taught us.
02:08Second, I'm tired of corruption, corruption.
02:11All of that is corruption for me.
02:14I have a statement for you.
02:16If we win, I win.
02:18These guys will win.
02:20The big statement is here in front of you in this election.
02:24This time, BPWP is going to be the W.H.O.
02:28I expect.
02:39And don't take this literally.
02:41This is a speech.
02:43You should have a head.
02:45You know the highway you're going through?
02:48When I was campaigning for 2016, I was there.
02:52You will finish the repair of one segment.
02:55You will repair the other segment.
02:58And while you are repairing the previous repair, you will pass the other one.
03:03You will go around it.
03:04No one will get caught.
03:06So, you should have a brief.
03:09It should be clear.
03:11Don't make it red.
03:12It's about time.
03:13There are people who are responsible.
03:15Accountable.
03:17Who are corrupt.
03:19For a change.
03:21Because they are the ones who stole the mangoes from our house.
03:25But the people who started it.
03:27Because of the wrong implementation of the project.
03:30There are people.
03:32There are people who went to Bangkok.
03:35Every time, they will operate their commission.
03:39So, I think it's about time.
03:41There are leaders who are leading.
03:43And again, I would like to emphasize.
03:45This is not a joke.
03:47Celebrating International Women's Day.
03:51So, what would you like to say to the people?
03:54And what are your concrete programs for us, the people?
04:34We were brought up that way.
04:37So, I always respect women.
04:40So, what more can I say for the young generation in this way?
05:03Good morning.
05:04I will answer your question.
05:07Of course, as a woman myself.
05:10Happy Women's Day to all my fellow women.
05:15And even when I was a congresswoman.
05:18Because as a mother, I understood all the rules that a woman should follow.
05:26Of course, you have to take care of your children, your husband.
05:30You have to make sure that you take good care of your home.
05:34And that you are still looking for a job.
05:36And others do something for the community.
05:40So, there are a lot of rules that a woman should follow.
05:43And sometimes, all the people forget themselves.
05:48So, in my business, I had a nanny there with all of my grandkids.
05:53To take care of our mothers and our grandmothers.
05:57And teach them additional life skills.
06:00So that they can find a better life.
06:02Even if they are at home.
06:04When they grow up.
06:05And give them a platform where they can show their leadership.
06:09And of course, they will give us financial assistance.
06:13And scholarships for them and their children.
06:17So, there are programs like that.
06:19That really help women in finding a better life.
06:23That is where we focus.
06:25And even now, guys.
06:26I advocated for a lot of bills that gave maternity benefits to women.
06:32And people, they can keep their workplace rights.
06:36So that they can continue to have a better life.
