00:00There's clearly no love lost between Meghan Markle and critics of her new Netflix show.
00:06The Duchess of Sussex dropped her lifestyle series on the streamer this week,
00:10and now the reviews are in. It's not exactly a love fest.
00:15Oh my gosh. Is it good?
00:16So good.
00:17All eight episodes featuring Meghan cooking, gardening,
00:20and crafting with her celebrity pals are available to watch now.
00:24But With Love, Meghan is getting so much hate, you might just want to skip it.
00:29Unless you enjoy a good hate watch.
00:31UK critics were especially harsh.
00:34Kiss the Netflix deal goodbye, read the headline in The Guardian,
00:38whose reviewer called the show pointless and speculated that it might be the last
00:42thing her and hubby Prince Harry ever make for the streaming service.
00:46With Love, Meghan is the latest product of Harry and Meg's $100 million Netflix deal,
00:51following the success of their Tell All docuseries and a few major flops.
00:56But nothing got the critics as riled up as this new offering.
01:00It's boring.
01:01And it just looks, to me, fake.
01:04The Daily Mail even called the show,
01:06"...so awful it is almost compelling,"
01:09and predicted it could be irresistible fodder for an army of hate watchers. A win-win for Netflix.
01:15She's so beautiful on the inside, and you just don't know how good she is
01:20until you go deep and you get to know her better.
01:22In a one-star review, The Independent called it queasy and exhausting,
01:27and called Meghan out for making a millennial blog come to life with too many out-of-touch touches,
01:33like adding edible flowers to everything, even ice cubes and eggs.
01:38Do they add flavor or is it decorative?
01:40It's just an accessory.
01:41The Telegraph called it an exercise in narcissism,
01:44with Meghan using the show to repeatedly push her line of posh products,
01:49like that famously exclusive jam, soon heading to a Netflix store in a mega-mall near you.
01:55It was extremely good, and a lot of people asked to taste it.
01:58Reviews from regular folks were just as harsh.
02:01Absolute drivel, a masterclass in how to waste money, straight-up boring,
02:07and a 40-minute infomercial for her ego were just some of the reactions on social media.
02:13A lot of the hate was aimed at Meghan's one-pot pasta dish from Episode 1,
02:17a skillet spaghetti that prompted one viewer to post,
02:20"'That's not food, that's punishment.'"
02:23Many viewers also pointed out that Meghan is ripping off Martha right out of the gate,
02:28as Martha Stewart's been teaching fans to make her famous one-pot pasta recipe for decades now.
02:34"'So here's a recipe that has taken the internet by storm.'"
02:38But love will find a way, and there were some critics and viewers who
02:42sincerely enjoyed With Love Meghan. Her superfans joined her for a screening in New York City,
02:48including two followers who went so far as to get as-ever tattoos. That's Meghan's new brand name,
02:55after American Riviera Orchard got the axe following trademark issues.
03:00Vogue magazine's review called the show,
03:02"'So aspirationally Californian'," and speculated that some viewers might even
03:07find themselves "'taking notes.'" While Town & Country observed that Meghan's,
03:11"...real joy and passion for cooking shine through."
03:14Meghan's kids also showed Meghan some love. Take a look at the sweet card they made for their mom,
03:19ahead of the premiere, which reads,
03:21"'We love your show and we love you.'" It's signed by Lily, Archie, and Papa.
03:26And unsurprisingly, Papa, Prince Harry, is another positive reviewer. In the show itself,
03:31Harry praises his wife on camera in Episode 8, as the show wraps up with a big party.
03:37It's good right? You did a great job. Thank you.
