00:00The 40-day Lenten season has begun in the celebration of Ash Wednesday today.

00:05The Catholic Church is reminding us how to make the time of Lent more pleasant.

00:12Jaime Santos is the witness.

00:17Ash Wednesday is the day of Lent.

00:20On this day, the faithful receive the above in their hearts

00:25that came from the burnt ashes as a symbol of repentance and reminiscence

00:32that we are from Alabok and will return to Alabok.

00:35Traditionally, during Lenten season, there is fasting and abstinence.

00:41Fasting is eating a full meal, breakfast, lunch, or dinner,

00:48and eating two small meals.

00:50This is done during Ash Wednesday and Viernes Santo.

00:54Those aged 18 to 59 are required to fast.

00:58Fasting or abstinence is not eating meat.

01:02This is done during Ash Wednesday, Viernes Santo, and all Fridays during Lent.

01:09Those aged 14 and above are required to fast.

01:13But those who have bad feelings, senior citizens, and those who bring people,

01:17this should not be done.

01:20That is why we fast, to make ourselves understand that

01:25aside from the food that is important in our lives,

01:29we need to quickly reduce it,

01:33so that our relationship with our Lord, our spiritual nourishment, can be noticed.

01:40So that those who have been saved from fasting can be blessed,

01:43this can be donated to those in need.

01:46We should always be aware of what is our responsibility to our fellowmen.

01:52And that is our effort to help those in need,

01:57to give compassion, especially to those in need.

02:08It's like your sacrifice, because the Lord sacrificed for us,

02:12as a compensation for His sacrifice He made for us.
