Khammam, Telangana: A young female dancer, Kavya Kalyani, allegedly died by suicide on Saturday after hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Ponnekal in Khammam rural mandal.
Kalyani, a resident of Bank Colony, had reportedly been living with Abhi alias Abhilash at his house in Ponnekal for the past five years following a secret marriage. The duo had participated in the popular TV dance reality show #Dhee, where they allegedly fell in love.
Before taking the extreme step, Kalyani recorded a selfie video in which she held Abhilash responsible for her death. In the video, she stated, "Sorry, Amma, I am dying. After living together for five years, Abhi has now decided to marry another woman and told me to leave his house."
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Two-Town police station. Following her death, Kalyani’s family members staged a protest at the Government General Hospital mortuary, demanding strict action against Abhilash.
Meanwhile, Abhilash has reportedly surrendered to the police and is currently in custody as investigations continue.
