00:00Manchester United came from behind to defeat Ipswich Town 3-2 in the Premier League here at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
00:09United made two changes from the side that drew up Everton at the weekend.
00:13Lenny Yoro and Alejandro Garnacchio both returned to the Ruben Amorim starting line-up.
00:18It was the worst possible start though, when Jadon Fuller-Jean put Ipswich ahead after just four minutes.
00:23A horrendous defensive mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana.
00:28Dorgu let a long ball go over his head, Onana came rushing out at the January sign-in, played the ball past Onana
00:35and Fuller-Jean had a tap-in from only a matter of yards into an empty net.
00:39Whose fault it was doesn't really matter because the fact is that United weren't good enough defensively
00:43and were punished emphatically for that.
00:46United responded reasonably well but a free-kick from Bruno Fernandes was bundled into the Ipswich goal
00:51by captain Sam Morsi and United had another set-piece goal when a corner from Bruno Fernandes
00:56finally made its way to Matthijs de Ligt who put the ball in in front of the striker.
01:01And United thought maybe they could come back at it with the job done but it was about to get a whole lot harder.
01:06Patrick Dorgu, who had recovered quite well from his early mistake, was shown a straight red card after a VAR check
01:12for a reckless foul on Omari Hutchinson.
01:15Initially it wasn't even a free-kick signalled but when the referee checked the video footage
01:19he had no hesitation to send Patrick Dorgu off.
01:22He will miss the next three domestic matches for Omari Hutchinson and United.
01:27And then things went from bad to worse.
01:29Ipswich were equalised just before half-time.
01:31A cross from Filagin snuck in at the back post.
01:34O'Neill didn't cover himself in any glory for that one either
01:37and Liam de Lap had done a job on Matthijs de Ligt in the middle.
01:40It meant it was 2-0 at half-time.
01:42United responded to Dorgu's sending off by replacing Garnaccio with Nizam Mazraoui.
01:50It worked to a degree. I think we were all questioning that at the time.
01:54But to be fair to United, they were a lot more resilient after the break.
01:56They defended quite well against an Ipswich team who were pushing hard for an equaliser.
02:00And against all the odds, again, it was United who took the lead.
02:03Only a couple of minutes into the second half, a Bruno Fernandes corner was headed in by Harry Maguire.
02:08Fernandes has now had a role in United's last six goals.
02:11They've all originated from Bruno Fernandes' set-pieces.
02:15It was no surprise that Bruno Fernandes was given the Man of the Match award as United did hang on.
02:20They not only dealt with Ipswich's threat quite well,
02:22but they posed an attacking threat themselves despite the man's disadvantage.
02:26But in truth, I thought Lenny Oro and Joshua Xherxey were just as deserving as Maguire and Fernandes for the floor.
02:33And it's tonight.
02:34For United, what looked like it was going to be another disastrous evening turned into a defiant one.
02:39It's a rare home win in the Premier League.
02:41Yes, it's against a team who look embroiled in a real relegation fight now and could well be in the Championship again next season.
02:49But you've got to take the context of it.
02:51This is a United side who played for over half the match with 10 men.
02:54It's a United team who have lacked character, who have lacked defiance all season.
02:58They finally showed some tonight.
03:00Don't get too carried away.
03:01There are far tougher tests on the horizon.
03:03Follow-up next in the FA Cup.
03:05There's that Europa League knockout clash against Real Sociedad Arsenal.
03:10The next league visitors here to Trafford.
03:13Full-time, you've got to take the positives given what could have been another awful night.
03:18Full-time, Manchester United 3, Ipswich Town 2.
