Will Cody Rhodes choose to be The Rock's chosen champion as he makes his decision at WWE Elimination Chamber on March 1 2025?

If not, here's three suggestions who could be anointed The Great One's chosen one, and how their turn to villainy could shape the WWE landscape going forwards - and John Cena's final year as a WWE wrestler.

00:00So, one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the WWE on the road to WrestleMania 41, that's
00:06not who attacked Jade Cargill, happens to stem from a conversation The Rock and Cody
00:10Rhodes had on a recent episode of WWE Smackdown on Netflix.
00:16The Rock cordially invited Cody Rhodes to become his champion, a nod to how The Rock
00:22was the corporate champion after the events of Survivor Series 1998 up until WrestleMania
00:2715.
00:28So let's say that the boy wonder Cody decides not to sell his soul, so who else could The
00:34Rock anoint as The Great One's Chosen One?
00:37There's three candidates in my mind, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk and John Cena.
00:43Sorry Seth, I don't see you joining an authority once again, you just stay cackling and be
00:48in the workhorse that we all love you for.
00:51Drew McIntyre's interactions in real life with The Rock, a board member for TKO Holdings,
00:56the company in charge of the WWE since their merger with the UFC under this new umbrella,
01:02have always been cordial.
01:04Drew's got a chip on his shoulder and by rights deserves to win a WWE Championship
01:08in front of fans should The Rock pick him as his chosen champion.
01:13Those might recall during the COVID era of the WWE that Drew McIntyre beat Brock Lesnar
01:19at WrestleMania, however the crowd were essentially just television sets we were all appearing
01:24on.
01:25But Drew's already a bad guy and it doesn't feel like there would be much of an impact
01:30if he was to turn heel or bad guy because heel, yeah, sorry, wrestling vernacular.
01:37So what about John Cena?
01:39The last time we saw John Cena as a bad guy was way back in 2002 and 2003 when he found
01:45his feet as the Doctor of Thuganomics.
01:47Since then he's been in the Cody Rhodes role as the all-American good guy, no one can get
01:52him down.
01:53When the odds are against him, he rallies and rises up.
01:56Now this being John's last year in the WWE, could we see a heel turn finally from the
02:02guy?
02:03I can't see it, get it?
02:05For as much as Cody vs Cena for the championship and possibly Cena breaking Ric Flair's record
02:10for the most amount of times crowned as a world champion, he doesn't need to do it at
02:15WrestleMania.
02:16Instead, some idiot who had a Vine account and got famous through it.
02:21That one point instead might be the more marquee match on this occasion if the WWE are trying
02:26to reach out to a newer audience.
02:29So that leaves my beloved CM Punk, and yes, I think he's going to sell out in order to
02:34get what he wants.
02:35Oh no, CM Punk will never sell out.
02:38Oi!
02:39Shut up!
02:40Oh you shut up!
02:41No you shut up!
02:42No you shut up!
02:43No you shut up!
02:44Shut up.
02:45Shut up.
02:46As I was saying, all CM Punk has ever wanted was to headline WrestleMania, which was all
02:50well documented after he left the WWE on January 27th 2014 and the legal proceedings and some
02:57guy sharing a bank account with his mum.
02:59We all thought that he'd get a much vaunted Royal Rumble win this year until that idiot
03:04that we mentioned who had a Vine account, yeah, threw him out.
03:08So what happens if the chips are down for Charles Montgomery Punk in the Elimination
03:12Chamber and he sees his chance, almost what he considers his birthright, to headline WrestleMania
03:1941 slipping away?
03:21Sell out, or buy in, however Punk might frame it.
03:25We get a strong bad guy we all rallied behind upon his return, once again informing us long
03:30time wrestling fans he's still a snake and should have never been trusted.
03:35Cody gets to face his biggest challenge yet, a motivated corporate sponsored CM Punk, alongside
03:40what is becoming more and more evident a corporate version of The Rock, only this time in charge
03:46rather than taking orders from name redacted.
03:48But what of the long term booking if CM Punk turns heel?
03:53Slow down my guy or girl or friend, I'm getting to it.
03:57CM Punk could turn heel, win the title under nefarious means at WrestleMania 41, leading
04:02Cody Rhodes to take a break for a start, but then start a new redemption arc.
04:07I mean, he's already finished his story getting the championship, he still has one more story
04:13to finish if you recall, that which ties him to The Rock.
04:17Now CM Punk can go on to reign over the WWE landscape, proving to his previous detractors
04:22that he is indeed a cancer in the locker room, leading to new matchups or even walking back
04:28his feuds with Drew and Seth Rollins, now he's a bad guy adding a new dynamic.
04:33But where does that leave Mr. You Can't See Me though?
04:36Well he takes his win at WrestleMania over Logan Paul, declares he's coming after the
04:41undisputed WWE championship that CM Punk owns, and then we get a 2025 SummerSlam main
04:46event of CM Punk vs John Cena, with Big Match John taking the title and that record.
04:53I mean, that all makes sense to me, pragmatically speaking, but in the world of wrestling, anything
04:59can happen and I mean, who knows, we might actually get Homelander Cody a few sides to
05:04join up with the Rocket Elimination Chamber.
