A Geology and Geoscience Investigation Bill is currently being drafted and is expected to be tabled next year, the Dewan Rakyat was informed.

Responding to a supplementary question from Datuk Azman Nasrudin (PN-Padang Serai) on Wednesday (Feb 26), Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the bill is intended to replace the Geological Survey Act 1974 to better meet current needs.

Huang also announced that the Cabinet has approved the establishment of the National Geology Disaster Centre.

00:49For your information, BPJN was established to monitor the impact of the early warning system of geological disasters,

01:02The establishment of this center also aims to increase the response rate of disasters in order to ensure the safety of the people.
01:14The current status of BPJN is that its establishment has been approved by the Ministerial Committee
01:22and is now in consultation with the Public Service Department.
01:29Next, regarding the proposal to re-study or re-examine the Geological Disaster Management Act,
01:37for your information, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has always been committed to evaluating the impact of the relevant regulations
01:50so that they are always relevant and inclusive data in the face of extreme climate and intensity changes
