00:00It's time to retire. I turn 65 this coming weekend. I work on a three-year election cycle
00:05with federal elections. I'm not going to be presenting elections in three years' time
00:09when I'm 68, so this will be my last on-camera election for the ABC. I'll stay on for a couple
00:15of years, handing over work and doing other things, but essentially I'm deciding to retire
00:20and work less. I was always interested in something to do. I've always been good with
00:23numbers, always interested in doing something worthwhile. I got this job as an election
00:27researcher 36 years ago, and I've just decided that I enjoyed doing it. I've done a lot of
00:34development since. We worked out how to do websites, how to improve computer systems.
00:38I designed the current computer system and its basic functions and been through several
00:43upgrades with it. It's been a long, fun journey.
