00:00Fox & Badger Coffeehouse has now been open for 3-4 weeks. Before the new year we were
00:09Wickham Bistro and when I say we I mean me and my family. So my mum and dad, Sean and
00:14Sharon and with my sister Alice and my brother Will before he moved to Spain. We used to
00:22run Wickham Bistro together but then towards the end of the year my mum and dad fancied
00:27a bit of a change and around about the same time me and a friend of mine Milo really liked
00:33the idea of running a coffee shop together. So we decided to sort of take over the business,
00:39we renamed, we rebranded, we repainted all the walls, got new signage, painted the front
00:47of the shop, moved some stuff around and installed this thing above the counter here. Because
00:56obviously when you come into a coffee shop you expect the menu to be sort of like above
01:00the person making the coffee. So we just put a big old blackboard up there to put our menu
01:06up there and yeah it's only been 3 weeks but we've hit the ground running. The first week
01:13I couldn't believe how busy it was and we're already hiring people and trying to keep up
01:18with everything and it feels like I'm ordering more cinnamon buns every other day because
01:25they keep running out and they're very popular. When we first opened we were trying to do
01:29cocktails on a Friday night, unfortunately we have decided to stop doing that but on
01:34the flip side of that we're going to extend our kitchen opening hours. So at the moment
01:38right now we just do a simple sandwich menu, I say simple sorry, a wonderful sandwich menu
01:45between 11 and 2 but we're going to extend that from 10 till 2 and we're going to add
01:50some more breakfasty items alongside the menu and then in the future we'll eventually
01:58open on Saturdays. It's a bit of an odd day to be closed for a coffee shop but it's worked
02:04out quite well because I think there's so many other places open on a Saturday and a
02:09lot of places are closed on Sundays and Mondays and they're two of the days we're open. One
02:13of our busiest days has been Mondays and I think it's because people still want to go
02:18out and have a coffee on a Monday and we're one of the only places open. It's been wonderful
02:22to host all kinds of people. We chose the name Coffee House because in the olden times
02:31before coffee houses were really like a melting pot where people of all levels of wealth would
02:39meet and drink coffee and discuss ideas and I really liked that idea and I've seen it
02:44here. We get the older ladies in for tea and we also get the younger crowd in for their
02:49matcha lattes and it's really fun to see a whole mix of people coming here and just being
02:57able to host that kind of thing.
