The Met Office morning forecast for February 23 2025.
Transcript
00:00Heaviest of the rain across parts of south-western Scotland, north-western England, Wales and
00:05south-west England. Some fairly heavy rainfall here from time to time. Could be some traffic
00:10disruption in places and also some surface water on the road. So, if you do have any
00:14travel plans, do allow some extra time for your journeys. Also accompanied by a strong
00:19wind, could see gales reaching severe gales along some Irish sea coast. So again, could
00:24cause some disruption. Warnings are in force for wind and rain across many northern and
00:28western parts of the country during the course of the day. So, do stay up to date with the
00:32latest warnings on our website. By the end of the afternoon, we will start to see some
00:37brighter skies return across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. But also, a scattering
00:42of showers quickly moving in. And for most of us, temperatures generally reaching double
00:46figures. But if you factor in the strength of this wind and also the rain, I think it
00:51will feel a little bit colder than these temperatures suggest. Into the evening, we continue to
00:56see the risk of some further heavy rainfall for southern parts of Wales, south-western
01:00England. But the rain will gradually clear here and would tend to just be lingering across
01:05the very far south-eastern corner of England by the end of the night. Elsewhere, a mixture
01:10of clear spells and some further blustery showers moving in, with the winds continuing
01:15to be fairly strong, especially across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures in most
01:20towns and cities not falling much lower than 8 or 9 degrees. Could just fall a little bit
01:25lower than this in the countryside. So, as we start Monday morning, a bit of a cloudy
01:30dull start across the far south. That rain may well just push back up into the southern
01:35counties of England for a time during Monday morning. But really, for most of the UK on
01:40Monday, it's a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers. Some of these showers will
01:44be on the heavy side, potentially the odd rumble of thunder too, and may be quite frequent
01:49for a time across the very far north of Scotland. Temperatures on Monday again reaching double
01:54figures. Could potentially be reaching the low teens across the far south-eastern parts
01:59of England. But the wind will temper the feel of things up across Scotland and Northern
02:05Ireland once again.
