A gunman took hostages at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County in Pennsylvania on Saturday (Feb 22) morning, killing a police officer and wounding five others before being shot dead by police.

00:17as Diogenes Archangel Ortiz, entered UPMC Memorial Hospital in York and took staff hostage

00:26A nurse and custodian were shot and wounded while a doctor was grazed.
00:30The suspect exchanged gunfire with police after dragging a female staff member into
00:35the hallway at gunpoint with her hands bound.
00:38When he came out, Mr. Diogenes Archangel Ortiz, came out holding at gunpoint a member of the
00:46UPMC staff coming out into the hallway, the officers, left with no recourse, did open
00:53fire and did shoot and kill Diogenes Archangel Ortiz.
01:00During the course of the armed confrontation that was caused by Mr. Archangel Ortiz, there
01:08were three officers who were struck.
01:11West York Police Officer Andrew Duarte was killed by the gunman, while two other officers,
01:16along with the injured nurse and custodian, are in stable condition.
01:20No patients were injured.
01:22Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro visited the hospital after the shooting and praised
01:27Duarte and the other officers for their bravery in saving lives.
