00:00The former Governor of the Indian Reserve Bank, Shaktikant Das has become the Principal Secretary of PM Modi.

00:08On 10 December 2024, he completed his six-year tenure as Governor.

00:14And in just two and a half months, he was appointed as the Chief Secretary of PM Modi.

00:21On this post, Shaktikant Das will remain on PM Modi's Prime Ministerial post or till the next order.

00:28On 8 November 2016, when PM Modi announced the note ban, Shaktikant Das was the Secretary of Finance in the Finance Ministry.

00:38During the note ban, 1,500 old notes were taken back.

00:43He very successfully reduced the availability of cash.

00:48Shaktikant Das played his role in preparing eight budgets during his tenure as the Secretary of Finance and Rajasthan Secretary.

01:00In 2018, after the resignation of the former RBI Governor Ujjit Patel, the Modi government appointed Shaktikant Das as the RBI Governor for three years.

01:10During Ujjit Patel's tenure, the relationship between the RBI and the Modi government was seen to be very sour.

01:17Many issues were discussed between the RBI and the Finance Ministry, including the dividends given to the government from the RBI.

01:26After Ujjit Patel's sudden resignation, Shaktikant Das took many steps to remove the gap between the government and the Central Bank.

01:35He also gained confidence in the financial market.

01:37In 2020, during the Corona pandemic, he boosted the economy through monetary policy.

01:44He ensured the availability of cash for different sectors.

01:48He also reduced the repo rate to 4%.

01:52His tenure was appreciated at a global level, due to which he was awarded the Best Central Banker award for two consecutive years.

02:00In 2021, his tenure was extended for three more years.

02:04In 2022, after the war between Russia and Ukraine, he increased interest rates from May 2020.

02:15In February 2023, he took the repo rate to 6.50%, which was able to control inflation.

02:23After Shaktikant Das's tenure in the RBI was completed, PM Modi praised him immensely.

02:29But in the present time, when there is an atmosphere of global uncertainty, slowdown is being seen in the economy,

02:35foreign investors are fleeing from the share market, and there is no investment at all.

02:41In this, PM Modi will play a major role in bringing the economy on track as the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary.
